Great welcome when we arrived and all staff very friendly and helpful. My 87 year old Mum won tickets in an auction and we took grandchildren. There are steps up and down viewing areas but helpful staff made this easier for her. Everything we needed for good day out. Small cafe with good choices and great service. Facilities are not fancy but were clean and tidy - good family feeling. Will take the children again - shame I don't like water !!!

Went for a walk with my two children. Beautiful area. Nice cafe. Named after one of the greatest men in English history. What more could you want? Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful nature reserve with varied areas including a large lake.
The visitors centre has a really good cafe and shop and the whole area is very dog friendly

Not visited for a couple of years so took my youngest (almost 3yo) for the 10am-12pm session on a weekday. Thought at £4.50 it was good value. Like that they don’t charge for adults. It was clean and well maintained. The slides were very slow- don’t know if that is because they are having to be cleaned more now or what. It suited my son as he’s a nervous slider but think older children might prefer faster! Remember some coins for the arcade games/toy dispensers because you will be pestered! Didn’t try the food as we went to Burger King across the road afterwards but looked decent.

Lovely place. The pool isn't overly busy although have to share a lane. Staff are nice. Changing rooms are clean and has a shower cubicles for the shower after. This place seems fairly well equipped.

Promises of new ones opening. Even the food court just before Christmas has closed units so long queues all round

Living nearby (walking distance) for the past 18 years hasn't lead me to be a frequent visitor to this nature reserve, but given that my first and last visit before now was circa 2003 and the next in April 2020, it does give me a sense of perspective regarding the reserves development. Only visited this time TBH as due to lockdown movements were restricted. As it was we took a stroll through Noak Bridge before making our way to the reserve. There is no dedicated parking to access the reserve and thus you are looking at street parking if you are not local, but tbh again the reserve doesn't include enough v other local parks and public footpaths to warrant a visit IMO from anyone that doesn't have the ability to walk here. The reserve itself has grown in the 17 years between my visits and also been improved in terms of developments. As a stretch of land, it is squeezed in between the A127 and Noak Bridge and thus is both noisy and only really has an up and down option to walk, though attempts at tight loops have been incorporated into the current configuration. The paths are solid and good for those with limited mobility, though not very wide (this was more of an issue in the current pandemic as passing other walkers/visitors was difficult to maintain SD). There is good signage at the entrance and exit points of the reserve layout as well as signs at individual points of interest. There is adequate seating for those having a rest. The woods/nature is still not very mature so suggest only go there to walk, exercise or walk your dog, but the fact it exists, appears not to be, being abused is a good sign and options for those with limited travel options who live local to get out and about, and away from the road for there exercise.

We followed a route through the reserve (which was very nice but with zero facilities) along the estuary path. A little overgrown in places towards Benfleet. The route we followed took us a different way on the return. This was so overgrown it was impassable. There followed a 2 mile detour to get back to the carpark.

We’ve just arrived home from the Christmas event. Wow! I cannot praise this place highly enough! The staff go to extremes to make sure the children have fun, it was all really well organised, and a great atmosphere too! Thanks so much to all the staff, as always the kids all had a great time 😀
