The key highlights of the museum include four Byzantine encaustic icons from 6th-7th centuries. The museum offers guided tours in Ukrainian, Russian, English, German and Chinese. Individual visitors can enjoy audio guide in Ukrainian, Russian, and English. The museum exposition is open daily, except Mondays and Tuesdays, from 10:30 till 17:30. "The main church is quite beautiful and reminded me of a smaller, more delicate Agia Sophia in Istanbul. Make sure you visit the second floor to get a better view of the iconography."
"Quite magnificent location above the Dnieper river. The speakers blasting out old Soviet patriotic music. An interesting collection of war memorabilia.
Located just a short walk from the Lavra caves, it's worth linking the two up if you are in the area over a few hours. Do get a taxi from the centr..."e ~50hryvnia (GBP4/USD6) as it's quite a walk

"This trip is unbelievable. If you are in Kiev you should spend the day to head out on this tour. If you aren't in Kiev, you should go so you can do this tour. It is very well organised and efficient. Booking was very easy. Equally interesting and horrifying.
The only challenges:
1. The tour guid..."es of Chernobyl itself are provided by the government and quality can be hit and miss.
2. The food is frankly awful. Lunch is provided in Chernobyl town and it definitely harks back to the Soviet era. You could of course see this as a good thing .... Definitely take your own water (none available outside the lunch stop) and some snacks if you get peckish.
3. Outside the entry/exit point and the lunch stop there are no bathrooms.
Make sure you book in advance and bring your passport with you. Some people hired geiger counters but they didn't really use them.
Go now before the place deteriorates even further. We were there in early May and the mosquitoes hadn't arrived yet. Trips go al...
