What travellers are saying
- rapoza57Orange Park, FL40 contributionsWe drove to Ft Fisher from Holden Beach and took the ferry back to Southport. We had to wait about 45 minutes for the ferry but it was very much worth it. For $7 total, the four of us and our vehicle were transported across while enjoying some interesting scenery and many flying sea birds. At one point a line of more than 20 pelicans flew past us. I would do it again.Written 25 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kim G16 contributionsThere are a couple locations and I wasn't sure if we would actually catch one during our stay in Kure Beach. But we took the Ferry over to Southport and there one was. It was very hot and humid and it was nice to sit in the cool tasting room and sample some wines and more. 6 picks for tasting and they give you a small plate with bread and some of the oils that they make as well. We sampled Garlic and a Fig oil. Both were good. Gabe was setting up our tastings and was nice to chat with and we learned a few things from him as well. We tried the American stainless Chardonnay, Calabash White, a White Merlot, Merlot, Cab Sauv and Calabash Red. After all we tried Calabash White. Everything we tried was good but we narrowed down our take home choices to 2 Calabash White, 2 White Merlot, one Cab Sauv and one Calabash White. All the wines were reasonably priced too. They also do beers for those who don't care for wines. It would make a nice stop for a group of folks who like different beverages.Written 21 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dede KPittsburgh, PA234 contributionsWhy are old jails so much fun to explore? This jail located in the town of Southport, is such a fun hands on roadside attraction! Life in this old brick building had its share of criminals that left their marks throughout the cells. We loved seeing their drawings on the walls and items left behind. The kids enjoyed checking out the cells and even taking their own personal mugshots (that better be the only one they ever take!) A nice tourist attraction!Written 21 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- pfefmeisterSan Francisco, CA3,043 contributionsStopped here and enjoyed the gallery. This has a great selection of local artists, nicely displayed in a bright, light filled space. Great historical building, well equipped to show wonderful crafts. Maybe too much pottery for my taste. Worth a visit when wandering through town.Written 15 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ROBERT ASouthport, NC39 contributionsTrinity United Methodist Church is a must see for visitors to Southport, NC. Its sanctuary is a remarkable illustration of old time architecture and construction. If inclined attend a service on Sunday, you will find the congregation welcoming and anxious to extoll the benefits of living in a small seaside town.Written 10 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
