Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- That GuyMount Brydges, Canada209 contributionsThis one requires a bit of a hike and a walk across a gorge on a walking bridge. The hike is part of the experience. The lighthouse is presently under construction with scaffolding all around it. But the visit is still worth it.Written 9 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- That GuyMount Brydges, Canada209 contributionsThis lighthouse is basically a tall square structure, but great to visit and see. The best part of the visit is the incredible view and the cliffs that surround it that you can walk right up to the edge of. If you don't go for the lighthouse, go for the view. It's incredible.Written 9 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

We sat no the elevated helicopter pad and stared out onto the bay for ages and saw some sealife. It's very quiet and secluded. Even standing on the dock is a relaxing place to be. One of the times the fog was fairly dense and the horn blew a few times.Written 9 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChristopherMontreal, Canada11 contributionsI visited the Smoke Sheds twice, first visit was while in operation as a Smoke House, had some delicious fresh Kippers the following Morning.
My second visit was while operating as a facility for, what I remember, a NYC Creative Arts Community, still in place was the smells reminding me of the pleasantness of Smoked Herring.Written 31 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The beach was clean. The waves were calm. It was a real pleasure to relax, walk and enjoy the solitude!Written 23 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Grant RMilton, Canada205 contributionsStopped by here for the first time after many visits to Grand Manan. There is a plethora of local art that was very pleasing to the eye and mind. Highly recommended and only $2 entry fee.Written 12 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CanadianGiiirlQuispamsis, Canada20 contributionsAmazing experience! We took a tiny ferry (free) to White Head island. The ferry is quite small (10 cars at a time so you can't always get on) We waited approximately an hour at the warf but no regrets... We got out of the car and walked around, they have a tourist display with information to read while waiting. It has beautiful views of the ocean. Also I had whale sightings right from the warf!!
The Island is tiny and charming and worth driving across to explore the beautiful scenery.. You can walk on a rocky beach or drive down a dirt road to the lighthouse. Amazing views and great place for beachcombing for seagrass! There is also a beautiful long sandy beach further down after the lighthouse perfect for a picnic and catching some days. There are no public washroom facilities or stores on the island so go prepared if spending a few hours, bring some snacks and drinks and wear comfortable walking shoes. Definitely worth the trip, saw lots of sea wildlife on the short ferry ride there as well. Another amazing Grand-Manan experience!Written 18 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The lady who greeted us at the gate was super nice and informative! We got a map. There were more lookouts and trails but we only had time to see the Hole in the wall. Fun experience! Washrooms at entrance.Written 31 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Sharon15 contributionsWe were on small boat as the large one was on refit. I had a difficult timegetting into and out of car as we were on upper level ramp and couldn5 open car doors without hitting sides of door on wall of boat. The fish chowder was awesome , and so was breakfast.Written 2 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew B.Collingwood, Canada154 contributionsGreat coastal hiking trail around the island. Many amazing lookoffs over the Bay of Fundy and the outer islands. Seals, whales, sea birds, and fishing activities visible from various points around the island. Key points of interest along the east & west side of the island. High cliffs along the west side have magnificent views over the Bay of Fundy toward Maine and of the volcanic basalt rock formations. The east side has enjoyable beach walks especially at low tide through Anchorage Provincial Park. Trail is easy walking.Written 8 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Wheatabix2012Toronto, Canada87 contributionsMy husband and I visit Pettes Cove Arts every time we visit Grand Manan, and we are never disappointed. Sue is very knowledgeable and curates an excellent selection of pieces at a wide range of prices.
This year I was able to pick up some hand dyed yarn, which is something I'm always looking for.
