What travellers are saying
- joy23Sydney, Australia40 contributionsHard, challenging walk from Wonderland car Park but worth every second of effort. Walking with 14yr, 11yr and 5yr old kids that are reasonably seasoned bushwalkers. Wouldn’t attempt it with kids under 8 yrs if you don’t walk often.
Be prepared and take the right gear. Wear walking boots as the surface is very uneven.
4km walk took 5hours with breaks and 7litres of water for 5 people in springtime.
If you want an easier walk, leave from Sundial carpark and see Silent Street by venturing down the Wonderland track 200m.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From the first call through to the day everyone was so helpful and nothing was too hard. We had the most Amazing Day! We had the absolute pleasure of being guided by Tara, Jules, Lilly, Marcus and Steph. All of their knowledge on the animals they were looking after was second to none. They answered all of our questions and made us feel a part of the family at Halls Gap Zoo. These staff members are an absolute credit to the Zoo and we will definitely be back with our children. Thank you for an experience we will never forget.Written 2 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JulieMelbourne, Australia207 contributionsThis area is a beautiful part of Australia. Anyone can walk the short walk from the carpark to the lookout even if in a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The view will take your breath away but the walk to it won’t.
If you go nowhere else in the region make sure you drive up and do this one.Written 10 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. At back of Venus Baths jump the creek. Head up granite at 45 degree direction right.
Get over ridge, head right again till find smooth face then easier boulder spine going up.
Enjoy views and clamber ascent to top of Mackey’s Peak overlooking Halls Gap.
To get down head west till find V gap in range with track to path.
Descend team with huge smiles and conquest chatter back to HG.
At home mine request when can we go again just to “do the Elephant’s Hide”.
Surprised Parks Victoria have not found a way to shut this down too .. yet.
First time is the hardest as learning to find the best & safest way.
Some awesome height & slope fear makes this a calculated FUN risk.
