What travellers are saying
- marie P5 contributionsThe tour was fabulous and the guide Henrique was so knowledgeable, passionate and personable. We learned so much and the tasting was great.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- anneCincinnati, OH37 contributionsGreat little place; a little off the main thoroughfare; definitely worth the few extra steps. We skipped the tour and enjoyed a port tasting. Well done.Written 9 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- KomatorBarcelona, Spain894 contributionsWe went to Taylor's Port to taste Port wines; we didn't take the cellar tour. You have the option to taste different Port wines from one of the reference cellars. The prices are high. However, the space is beautiful, and the staff is very friendly and pleasant.Written 28 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jo3 contributionsWe enjoyed an interesting tour around Cockburns finishing with a chocolate/port tasting which we highly recommend as the different chocolates really complemented each port.Written 2 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - eak49Sunnyvale, CA216 contributionsStandard big house tour at one of the major port producers.
Highlights:
- Got to go into the caves
- Tour guide was informative and entertaining
- Tasting at the end for 3 different versions
- Short video where you saw the vineyards
Lowlights:
- A bit cheesy with the guides wearing the cape and hat
- Booked ahead of time--many people got turned away trying to book that day or ones right after
Was fine to do while in Porto.Written 11 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Luis bridge, when crossed on the upper deck). To get there, I recommend climbing one of Porto's scenic stairs (e.g. Escada da Verdade) or taking the Gaia "teleférico" (cable car) for 7€.Written 30 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brittany BPBaltimore, MD4 contributionsCrash course on how wine is made. If you are a wine enthusiast, you will appreciate the history. Its not a large amount of wine tasting. So I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a tasting experience.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MIchkoMNice, France137 contributionsI enjoyed some fabulous old tawny port wine. Loved the atmosphere. Staff was extremely friendly. - Brent1977Edinburgh, UK24 contributionsGreat personal tour, by Edgar. Interesting history and tastings superb. Would actually do this tour again. Better than corporate offerings by a country mile. Quality of tastings also a cut above.Written 5 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Barbara-BrookeMorales-MurphyLondon, UK1,230 contributionsVisit this Winery at the port of Porto. You can arrange to take a tour and learn all about this Winery's history and the very interesting lady Antonia Ferreira.
Sample some of their port wines afterwards.Written 11 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had a return trip but quite easy to walk down, during Feb they allow you to have the car to yourself, there was two of us but in summer minimum of 4 to max of 8 in each car.Written 4 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rachel CCanterbury, UK114 contributionsFrom the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
We only wanted to sample fine Port, therefore bought the ‘Golden Years Port Tasting Experience’
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The group size was far less than other Port Lodges. We were given a very personal service.
The quality of the Port was SUPURB. After the tour and the tastings, we chatted with staff and they arranged for some further tastings as we were keen to compare.
We bought delicious Port and are negotiating with Phillipa to ship some home.
We visited some of the bigger Port houses following this, but they were not a patch on the whole Poças experience.Written 14 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
