- F4981JCmichaelsVancouver, WA2,105 contributionsLocated on Lake Michigan, just south of Sheboygen, Wisconsin. Beautiful place. Easy trails, great views of Lake Michigan, a boarded walkway in a marsh, a campground, a small gift selection in the visitors center. Non resident fee was only $11. Glad I stopped for this place. I didn't do a lot. It was late in the day, and I wanted to be in Green Bay by nightfall. I walked on a short trail to the lake, and also took in the marsh boardwalk. Being in nature just puts one's mind at ease. So I had an excellent time. Since there is a lot of sand near the lake, many of the trails have sections made of boards. If you have the time, I highly recommend stopping here. The campground looked well kept too.Written 17 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MomRoccoChicago, IL541 contributionsWe came to the area specifically to see this museum and its sister museum The Art Preserve. I am glad we made the trip as we were not disappointed in the quality of the art on display. We were very surprised though that so few people were at the museum on a Saturday, although the weather was frigid. The staff member at the front desk highly recommended we check out all the restrooms which are all different and designed by artists. Yes, we felt a bit strange taking photos of toilets, but it was an interesting experience. The grief room at the front of the museum is thoughtfully designed and really touched both my daughter and me. The Sky Hopinka video was very thought provoking and made me reflect on the meaning of life and how we remember those who are no longer with us and their impact on our lives. The area which was dedicated to the folk art of the Zahn family was very interesting. When we were going through the homestead where the Otis Houston exhibit is, I saw a horse inside what appears to have been a dining room. I meant to ask if it was taxidermied or a sculpture.Written 21 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Guide130588456764 contributionsWe are so fortunate to be able to enjoy the Weill Center. We are always amazed at the interior design, the friendliness of their staff, and the quality of the performers. Truly one of the gems in the Sheboygan area.Written 5 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RHONDA OChicago, IL4 contributionsWe loved our room - spacious and clean. The water park itself was also clean. It really is more for younger kids - we had a five and six year old and it was perfect. There is one surfing attraction they were too small for but everything else was doable. There are two racing slides, a separate big and small slide, lazy river (which is small) and a pool. Older kids mostly played basketball in the pool. There is also an outside pool that we briefly went in but that one was crowded with adults.Written 4 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian H28 contributionsGreat brewery. We were there for a wedding pre party. Great facility with great beers. Not everyone likes craft beer but they have a Pilsner that is very drinkable.Written 17 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. For instance, a tremendous effort has been made to preserve the pieces of a house decorated by an artist with glitter- a difficult undertaking to preserve a community art piece that is completely unique, and made a lasting impression in the time and place it occupied.
Alright, I've gushed about the good stuff- it's also a "modern" art museum in the same sense that there are some really fabulous things on display, and other things that make you wonder why they bothered to bring it in the door- and the pieces that you love or hate will vary based on your own tastes. The staff here encourage people to interface with the art as it is- whether you love it, hate it, or just find it totally weird. It's an art museum that both takes itself very seriously as an exhibition of "serious" art, but also knows full well that it's got a cabinet full of chicken bones and a fish sealed in resin too, so it never takes itself "too" seriously either.
In short, I recommend visiting and coming to your own conclusions. If you really like art museums, you'll find plenty of things to like here. If you hate art museums, I especially recommend you come as you will be hard pressed to find more "weird" artwork packed under one roof anywhere in the country to gawk at. If you have some friends to help you crack jokes and join in the absurdity of some of the things, there's a wonderful time to be had here too. I mean this sincerely, this was the most fun I've had at an art museum with my "not artistic" friends, and we had a wonderful time. The staff were excellent, and extremely knowledgeable- and some of the stories they have about the exhibits are incredible.
As a final note, the restrooms are "art" exhibits too, and they're some of the best pieces in the building in my opinion. No spoilers, but they are honestly worth the trip over by themselves, as you'll never see anything like them anywhere else.Written 22 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not sure what they are are are NOT using to preserve the wood, but I suggest another coat of ? would help. I preserve shipwreck wood with a simple bath of used motor oil and that has worked great as an inexpensive alternative to other preservatives on the market on shipwreck wood that is not kept inside..Written 21 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - unknown2525Sheboygan, Wisconsin48 contributionsVery interesting with a lot to see. - ro13Hubertus, WI1,605 contributionsCame here for the first time on a Saturday with my sister. We were amazed at the very well taken care of trails that offered a nice walk in nature. We saw a deer and a Blue Heron on our walk. We enjoyed the trails and the prairie. We unfortunately arrived after hours so didn't get an opportunity to see what the building had to offer. This is definitely worth the free price of admission.Written 10 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
