What travellers are saying
- Tom K3 contributionsWe went for the evening experience. The close up view of so many big cats is awesome. Watching the feeding was fun. The staff and volunteers clearly care for the animals. It takes about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to fully experience.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RhoFort Worth, TX147 contributionsTook our 90 yr old Dad to see the zoo as had not been in decades. We rented a transport chair before arrived and glad we did! The zoo is large and he would not have been able to walk it.
Loved the Tiger, giraffe, elephant exhibits! Great primate areas too!
So blessed when there for the giraffe feeding!
Reptile houses seemed to have smaller exhibit areas for snakes.
Dippin dot treat was tasty. But know do not accept cash in zoo, just cards.
We were there 2 1/2 hours but did not see all of the zoo.Written 8 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In Riverside area of Jacksonville, right on the St. John's River (the River flows NORTH!) . The Gardens are beautiful! The best time to view the gardens is between Mid March and December. The Cummer Oak is the Largest Live Oak you will ever see, The Garden director has done an amazing job on the gardens, including Florida Tropicals and natives. The Museum is the perfect size to see everything in a few hours. My son's love the historic posters of the South, and the Italian 1500's art. The cafe at the Museum is excellent, we always plan on Lunch there.Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Meander310911285685 contributionsWhile a little hard to find, a trip to Big Talbot Island State Park's Boneyard Beach is well worth the trip. As a photographer, I really loved the photo opportunities of all the old, dead trees on the beach. It's also a great place for a casual walk and the kids can play in the water.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Emily D3 contributionsBeautiful location, lovely beach, great bike trails & friendly staff. Glad I read the reviews so I came prepared with lots of bug spray, but the mosquitoes at spot #4 are pretty wicked! It’s right near the water so it’s beautiful but buggy!Written 20 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - djwhitelovetotravelCedar Rapids, IA3 contributionsWe just visited and so glad we stopped.. the drive to the site was a beautiful tree lined , gravel road. It was a “normal” unpaved, well maintained road. The grounds were well organized and informative., simple , quiet, peaceful and beautiful . We learned some interesting stories when we visited inside the house, from the volunteer. As soon as we arrived the ranger gave us information and made us aware of the audio tour. . The powerful storytelling of the audio tour- easy to find and use—-scan codes in many locations - provides information about the lives of the free & enslaved people. It was very moving. We learned a lot and came away with some new Insights. It would be a well worth field trip for classrooms( I was a former teacher) and families.and it’s free!( let’s keep supporting our parks!!!)Written 26 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sheronb6137 contributionsNice little enclave and section of beach. Felt like I was in the Carribean. The retail restaurant section of the beach called beaches Towne Center was very upscale, clean and had a Carribean Bahama village feel.Written 15 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brenda COrmond Beach, FL32 contributionsthis is a great place to shop. You can find anything that you are looking for. I went through many of the stores and found everything that I was looking for. - Neal V9 contributionsI had some bad experiences intially which made me think unfavorably of the place but it is a good park in general.. They paved the roads which is a major plus.. Sometimes host don't clean the restroom's enough so they could improve there but part of the problem is the restoom's are too small.. It's no problem for RV's who don't need them.. they have hookups for them.. There isn't enough options in my opinion for tent camping.. They literally could make more with all the space they have.. So my favorite location isn't Hanna but I'm still giving it a 5 stars even though they could do many things to improve the place.. Location is good and bad at the same time.. They have some shaddy businesses in the area but once you are in the park it is a different world.. I never shop locally and drive a good distance to go to nicer areas to get what I need which is not the fault of the park itself but the fact the area seems to have deteriorated . The location is too close to the Navel base which and it can be noisy, expecially if you are in a tent. The check in process is simple. The trails are very nice but warning about ticks and bike riders who can be dangerious if you are on a shared trail.. Always wear long clothing and socks on those trails.. I spray euclyptus oil all over my legs to prevent ticks if trail walking.. It's within a medium walk to the beach or you can park near it.. Night time security is pretty good.. They had some bad apples in the past which they seemed to have solved with a better crew.. The beach and trails are prestine with no trash.. So I give it 5 stars even though the facility has a lot of room to improve.Written 21 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Meander310911285685 contributionsAs history buffs, we found it a great place to learn about the history of plantations in the area; including both plantation owners and the slaves that worked there. It's also, a great place to spend some time just walking around the grounds.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
