What travellers are saying
- NoraatcSudbury, MA35,558 contributionsWe had such a beautiful long walk in the charming historic center with its perfect grid of streets intersected by green squares, typical antebellum houses adorned with elaborate iron balconies, elegant mansions with tall windows, magnificent leafy oaks covered with mysteriously looking Spanish moss… Lovely day in gorgeous weather.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlexandraUnited States131 contributionsThis church is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting if in Savannah. It’s free to enter, but an offering of any amount is suggested if you enjoy your visit. We didn’t book a guided tour, but we did see a large group of people with a tour guide who was giving a detailed history of the church. Either way, you’ll surely have a relaxing and spiritual visit.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul FLyons, NY206 contributionsWry clean park with the famous fountain! I happened to be there the day they “turned the fountain green”. That was very neat to see and a great experience to see how packed the fountain area can become. The trees were amazing and there is a nice restaurant on the edge of the park wheee you can get drinks to go.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NoraatcSudbury, MA35,558 contributionsWe walked along the quiet paths of the Bonaventure Cemetery for an hour or so… It was so serene, solemn and mysterious… Some of the old statues looked exquisitely delicate and mournfully sad. We had a very nice stroll, but Colonial Park Cemetery, the place where history of Savannah comes alive, was more meaningful for us than beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery, which is a municipal burial site. Colonial Park Cemetery may not to be equally appealing visually, but it is a treasure trove of Savannah’s glorious past.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NoraatcSudbury, MA35,558 contributionsI posted a separate review for the Olde Pink House Restaurant, 5 stars of course, but the mansion itself deserves the same 5 stars. Do allocate some time before your lunch or dinner to see its spectacular rooms, some of them original and others rebuilt. Someone had a brilliant idea to make this treasure of a mansion the most popular restaurant in Savannah. Such a beauty… and such a food…Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Beth FThibodaux, Louisiana, Usa379 contributionsWas on a bus tour. The Jersey Boys were playing. The play was awesome. Loved the music. The guys were so great. Came out after to talk to us. - Jane HNewton, MA5 contributionsFascinating tour about the history and architecture of this synagogue. Docent was well informed and staff were welcoming. Sweet little gift store as well!Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Emine C5 contributionsWent with boys age 9 and 13 and was not sure what to expect. We arrived just before 2 to see the cannon fire demonstration and it did not disappoint. They typically do 2 a day at 11 and 2. However, it’s not a 5 minute affair. You actually get a full theatrical reenactment by a staffer who tells you the complete story/ history as part of the demonstration. It’s 2 parts. You start outside the fort with a speech and firing. Then you go inside the fort to different areas to discuss all the artillery and how it was used, ending with firing of the howitzer ( very loud!) The entire demonstration was about 30-45 mins, so younger kids may lose interest. However, there is audience participation and the staff encourage you to ask questions. Many items on display are hands on, which is also very cool. If you just want to walk the grounds, this is also easy to do and would take about 30mins to 1 hr. If you love history, take the time to visit this location.Written 5 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NoraatcSudbury, MA35,558 contributionsThe iconic River Street is full of rich history as well as the plethora of cafes and restaurants. One of the highlight spots on the River Street is the Cotton Exchange Building, which dates back to 1887 when Savannah was ranked as the #1 cotton seaport on the Atlantic Ocean.
On the Riverfront Plaza the steamship “Georgia Queen” is a big draw and a great photo op.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Hard to get into so get your tickets early the day you are going or they may sell out.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SewardAKSeward, AK53 contributionsWe took this tour as one of five different ghost tours in three different cities. It was very interesting. Full disclosure is that we had heard a radio story about the truthfulness of this tour. We were plesantly satisfied to learn that the tour has been modified to be more truthful and honest.
The guide was very good, provided a great experience and was not 'over the top' with hyperbolic stories - but focused on folklore and reasonably discussed stories and a great experience. It was a bit expensive but one of the top two tours we took on this ghost hunting adventure!Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's in the City Market area, and at first, we it thought might be a bit "cheesy." But to our surprise, the museum does a great job. It tells a very thorough account of prohibition, its many factions, and public policy implications. Overall, a good stop - very educational but entertaining at the same time!Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
