Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Debbie W4 contributionsBeen to the Gandy Dancer several times, each time, show was very entertaining and the cast was amazing. Food was good, service was good and staff very accommodating. Friendly place to have a good time!Written 2 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sniper33Columbus, OH181 contributionsThis was my second visit to the Dolly Sods to hike. The high elevation (about 4000’) makes it a unique place in the Eastern U.S. that is more akin to Canada in its biomes, topography, weather, and hiking. Three years ago I hiked the whole thing. Today I hiked several of the loops in the northern half. That’s where the most unique scenery and biome is. It’s hard to access and it takes a long time to get there, but hikes from Bear Rocks off Forest Road 75 are highly recommended. It can be wet (avoid Dobbins Trail). Fall the mud is much less than spring or summer (normally).Written 11 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cherrydollScranton, PA42 contributionsGreat for camping and hiking. You can go fishing. Good view of mountains and trees. - civilwarguyWalden, Tenn352 contributionsYou have to be hard core into the Civil War to appreciate Camp Allegheny, scene of a smal battle in December 1861. But if you are, this will be an unforgettable experience. DRive the old S-P Turnpike up from Bartow and then out to US 250 to get the full flavor of this isolated and evocative spot, filled with original soldier hut sites and earthworks and not a thing to remind you of the 21st centuryWritten 6 May 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deborah TMaryland281 contributionsA nice little museum. Lots of information provided in an easy to understand presentation. The museum is free but donations are greatly appreciated. There are a few small items that can be purchased reasonably.Written 17 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Suzanne RMooresville, NC787 contributionsNice exhibit with local history. Gives you a feel for the area, the people, how it began, and how it grew. I most enjoyed the documentation of the equipment changes over the years. Very pleasant people that we welcome you.Written 3 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Holy Smoke BBQ ElkinsElkins, WV20 contributionsThis is a great site to go check out, really cool to see, it is truly tiny, however it does fit a few in at t time!Written 7 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Terri MLynchburg, VA34 contributionsThe river trail was a bit disappointing and if you want an easy trail, this is not it, but also not overly hard for those wanting to attempt. However, not well defined as a loop, so we wound up going back to our car by the road. Otherwise, spacious, not crowded, beautiful swimming hole, lots of nice shady picnic spots and pavillions.Written 28 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
