Great info from all others here! Thank you all for your feedback!

As noted, taxi is the easiest and quickest option, ranging anywhere from $15 - $30 depending on where you go in the city. We have a cab stand right out front of the hotel, and they are easy to get throughout the day.

The King Street Metro station serving the Blue and Yellow lines is 15 blocks away as noted. Starting at 11:30am everyday the city of Alexandria runs a complimentary trolley that you can catch across the street from the hotel and take up to the Metro station.

I really like the water taxi idea mentioned above as well, go to the website for Potomac Riverboat Company to view the schedule and prices. The Monuments Tour ticket is a direct trip to Georgetown and a fun way to travel!

Thanks!

Matt

Monaco Alexandria is on King Street. Take the free trolley that runs up and down King Street to the King Street Metro stop. From there you can go anywhere into D.C., including to Union Station.

Please note that you are only one Metro stop away from Reagan National Airport. Therefore, depending on what you are doing in D.C., it is perfectly possible to be in D.C. without a car.

Sometimes the King Street trolley is very busy, especially in summer. You may have a hard time managing a lot of luggage when the trolley is very full. If you have a lot of luggage, get a cab to the hotel. There are always cabs at the King Street metro stop. However, if you just have a bit of luggage, save the cab fare and take the King Street trolley from the Metro stop to the Monaco Alexandria.

I did not go to DC while I was there, but it looks like it is pretty easy from what others have to say. If cost is no object, using a cab would be quickest and most direct.

There is a subway station less than a mile from the hotel right on King Street. There are also get water taxis just a few blocks from the hotel that can take you across the Potomac to Georgetown.

Getting into DC from the Monaco is very easy. There are trollies right out side on King St running up and down stopping at every other block and it runs from the Potamac River by the Marina and the Chart House Restaurant down to the Metro System on the other end. it is clean and reasonably priced and you'll find many workers willing to help guide you.

It's about a 15 min walk to the King street station. The walk is extremely pleasant as you pass a load of quaint shops and eateries on the way. You get a real nice sense of why Alexandria is such a popular place. From the station it is very easy to get wherever you need to go.

As above the metro stop is close and you can ride it into DC. Many people commute to work on the metro from Alexandria. There is a free trolley on King Street that goes right to the metro stop.

Water taxi area blocks away I believe runs 4 times a day. I haven't tried it yet but heard it was a nice ride. Also, the Metro (subway) is about a 15 minute walk away. The Metro will get you everywhere is DC and is super clean and safe and very reasonable
