The food in the Hotel is very good. The golf club has a dining menu on some evenings otherwise typical golf club food, basic but well cooked. For a treat there is a top class seafood restaurant in Portmahomack 20mins away.Wonderful shellfish etc.

Dinner at the hotel was excellent + if you request table(s) accordingly you get a wonderful view down the 1st hole and across Dornoch Firth

We heard that the hotel's restaurant is very good. We ate at Luigi's; it was very good - few entrées but the ingredients were fresh and the presentation was great and management tries hard to please individual dietary requests. We also heard good things about Sutherland House.

Hi Carl

We are frequent visitors to Dornoch and can say there is a great choice of restaurants. Luigis is our favourite. Great food, friendly and excellent service ( it's not open on Sunday evenings for dinner ) the restaurant at the Royal Golf hotel is really good as well with lovely views from the conservatory. Sutherlands is also good, as is the Golf club if you are playing golf. Hope you have a great time

Hello Carl.....

I spent a week in Dornoch so I did visit a few restaurants. Here are my suggestions:

1. Of course, as the above person comments...the "conservatory" dining room at the Royal Golf Hotel is a fantastic setting & view. I had the Gressingham Duck one evening that was fabulous! Cameron will take care of you. The bar / dining room manager. A great guy!

2. Dornoch Castle has a nice dining room and a garden setting (with a very cozy pub, next to it) that would be very relaxing if a warm enough evening.

3. Sutherland House surprised me. A quaint setting, not the biggest of dining rooms, but excellent food. It is located right at the crossroads of the Town Center, just at the bottom of the hill from Royal Golf Hotel.

4. Luigi's has an excellent selection on their menu and a white table cloth setting. It is located on the main road going through town, just a block or two past the Castle & Cathedral. Pricey, but a quality dinner will be had.

You cannot go wrong at any of these pub/restaurants. All quality food, setting & service. Hope that helps.

We took dinner at the hotel where the restaurant has a very good ambience and commands a fine view over the golf course. The food was fair and the price of both food and wine reasonable.

Unfortunately we have no experience of any other restaurant in the town although we did notice a couple as we walked around.
