We found parking in the french quarter very sparse and limited

To paid underground lots that may be full and difficult to find close by. Best to just use vallet parking or other day parking (some lots near the hotel) and just walk to french quarter if you can.

Yes, there is a fee; $39 a night plus taxes. However, be very careful parking your car on the side streets in the french quarter during the day time and early evening, We parked near Canal Street to have breakfast and had our car towed because we failed to observe some very odd parking rules in that section of of the city and had to find someone who understood what we had to do to locate our car and pay the fee of $192.00. The lot where our car was stored was in one of the worse parts of town! Beware!!!

Valet parking anywhere in New Orleans is expensive! We've managed to park on the side street and just leave the car parked.

Nothing is free in New Orleans. The hotel has valet for about $30-35 a night. You can self-park except there is nowhere to self-park, so if you do find a place to park you will have to pay someone else's parking fee and probably walk a little ways. There are a lot of parking lots that charge by the day in the area. If you go on a weekday, most o those are reserved by nearby offices. If you go on the weekend there are usually plenty of spots open because offices are closed.
