キュランダはケアンズ市内からバス約５０分程いったところにある標高約５００ｍにある熱帯雨林に囲まれた村です。一番有名なのはバロンフォールでしょうか。ここは、観光としてはキュランダ鉄道が有名ですが、私達はスカイレールというリフトで行ってみました。キャランダ１日ツアーは現地でも、日本からも申し込めるのですが、意外と割高です。 180Ａ＄ぐらいしたと思います。ケアンズのホテルからバスでスカイレール乗り場まで行き、スカイレールに乗ったら、しばらくは原生林の森を眼下に見下ろしていきます。いよいよバロン滝ですが、私達の行った時期は雨量がない時期であったため、迫力ないチョロチョロの滝でした。ともあれ、ケアンズに来たら主だった観光はこことグリーン島、ハートリーフとここぐらいしかないので、記念に行っておきましょう。
