The airport S-Bahn rail link trains S1 and S8 leave from the airport's own train station at ten-minute intervals. The Lufthansa Airport bus leaves from the airport to the city frequently throughout the day.

Inside Munich the public transport system is based on different zones, and most tourist attractions are inside the inner zone. The same tickets can be used for the metro (U-Bahn), local trains (S-Bahn), buses, and trams. The downtown area is also very easy to explore by foot.
