When considering a holiday in Spain, why not look for a cheap airfare to Fuerteventura, the second largest airport in the Canary Islands. El Mattoral Airport is located close to the city of Puerto del Rosario, and caters for both international and domestic flights, though the airport only hosts basic facilities. There is no Wi-Fi service but there are information kiosks, food and duty free outlets, as well as a children's play area.
In the arrivals hall you'll find ATM's, money change and car rental counters, or transfers are available for the six kilometre journey to the city via shuttle bus, taxi or local bus. These forms of transport are also available to outlying resorts.
The island of Fuerteventura is roughly 100 kilometres long, and 30 kilometres at its widest point, so for the freedom it gives you, hiring a car is by far the best way to see everything this stunning island has to offer. The winds blow hot and sandy off the Sahara, so it's better to get around via transport than to do too much walking, but if you're not confident about driving, there's a bus service to Corralejo and the surrounding areas, which is reliable and relatively inexpensive.
If you're really game you could try a six hour camel ride to Corralejo from Caleta, or if you'd like to travel to a nearby island, there are a number of ferries running. Check online while looking for Fuerteventura flights for timetables.
Your holiday will involve many beach and water activities. There's snorkelling and scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing and sailing, or for relaxation just laze the day away on one of the 150 beautiful white sandy beaches. If you're a keen sportsman there are a host of well kept golf courses to keep you occupied.
For a dose of history and culture visit the Fuerteventura Archaeology Museum in the historic town hall area, or walk off the calories from last night's dinner along one of the hundreds of walking trails around the island.
Fuerteventura is a shopping paradise, with many large shopping centres and a multitude of local street markets. Wherever you go on this beautiful island, you'll find something to take your fancy. Puerto del Rosario and Corralejo have many boutiques and specialty stores, and Morro Jable is the place to go for great local produce.
Corralejo is the hub of nightlife in Fuerteventura. On the main strip you'll find everything from funky disco nightclubs to quiet open air bars, or some of the smaller bars cater to Latin American or Spanish music. Whatever your purpose for searching cheap flights to Fuerteventura, its friendly and vibrant atmosphere will soon have you back for more of the same.
