Main Attractions

The Leaning Tower is undoubtedly Pisa’s top draw, but there is a whole lot more to the city. For a start, Pisa also has two other, lesser known leaning towers – the Bell Tower of San Nicola Church, and the Bell Tower of San Michele of Scalzi Church. The famous tower itself sits (or tilts) in the World Heritage-listed Piazza dei Miracoli, and is surrounded by historic buildings including the Duomo and the Campo Santo. Enjoy panoramic views over the square by climbing all 294 steps to the top of the tower. Discover beautifully restored frescoes and a large collection of sarcophagi within the Campo Santo, and visit the imposing Duomo for a look at its magnificent interior.

Shopping, Dining and Nightlife

Bypass the kitschy souvenirs sellers to discover some unique local delights. Clothing and bric-a-brac markets are held twice a week along Via Buonarroti and Via San Martino. Join the locals at the Piazza del Vettovaglie for the daily farmers’ market. The Borgo Stretto is Pisa’s main shopping stretch, lined with many shops stocking local and international brands. Venture away from the Leaning Tower to discover restaurants serving tasty regional dishes. The Pasticceria Salza on Borgo Stretto is renowned for its tempting array of cakes and chocolate confectionaries. Dress up for drinks at Almatea. The bar is popular among the fashionable set for their apertivos.
