Arriving at Lisbon

The largest airport in southern Europe, Lisbon Portela Airport is the main gateway to Portugal. There are two terminals serving passengers, both of which, have information kiosks for inquiries and the services provided are free of charge. The popularity of this city with the young international ‘hip crowd' has led to an increasing number of cheap flights to the city and the planned extension of the airport.

Transportation in and around Lisbon

As the airport is located within the city limits, once you disembark in Lisbon, your hotel is only minutes away. If you are holding a Lisboa Card, a ride on the city's metro, trams or buses is free. Taxis are available outside the terminals and are an inexpensive way to get to the city centre. Carrister operates shuttles buses as do many hotels, both of which are free and provide tourists a convenient way of reaching their destination. While booking your flight to Lisbon, you might want to reserve a rental vehicle at the same time.

Main attractions

One reason for buying a cheap ticket to Lisbon would be to enjoy the sightseeing. Paris has the Eiffel tower and Lisbon has the Belem Tower: a must see along with the Jeronimos Monastery. Enjoy the sixteenth Century architectural masterpieces alongside the art nouveau shops and cafés. A museum like the Gulbenkian displays a lovely collection of unique Lalique jewelry and the Tile Museum has a number of one-of-a-kind collections, also unique and interesting. After a tiring day of sightseeing, the café at Miradouro da Graça is a great place to relax, enjoy a coffee and the view.

Shopping, Dining and Nightlife

A café in the Chiado district is a great place to meet friends, have a bica or galão before heading out to dinner. Dinner at a Fado house like Senhor Vinho is a must to enjoy the city's lively culture.

Book a shopping trip to Lisbon, the least expensive capital in Europe, and you can snag beautifully handmade goods at bargain prices. In the Chicado quarter international brands sit alongside quaint shops, with beautiful and distinctive decorations, which are well worth a browse.

If clubbing is your scene, your Lisbon flight is the ticket to The Barrio Quarter. You can dance until 4am with choices of clubs from the funky Pavilhão Chinêstot to the hip “Bedroom”. Even if you are still wanting to party head down to the river, find the Alcântara docks and watch the sun rise.
