Arriving at Seoul

Seoul flights arrive at the Incheon International Airport on Yeongjong Island in Incheon, South Korea. If you are searching for cheap flights to Seoul, there are numerous discount airlines that provide airfare to Seoul, and you will arrive at this airport. The facility is ultra-modern, and it caters to the passengers with a plethora of amenities. Not only does it have the usual shops and restaurants, it also contains a shopping mall and day spa with a sauna. Visitors who have lengthy layovers or time to kill after their flights to Seoul can arrange for local tours at the transit desk. Passengers have access to ATMs, currency exchange services, a business centre, a duty free shop, and the transit zone offers free wireless Internet.

Getting Around Seoul

It is always more convenient to pre-arrange transport from the airport when you book your airfare to Seoul, but this is not mandatory. You may take the airport shuttle or one of the buses that have routes between the airport and Airport Town. Taxis are also plentiful, and the fares for short distances are reasonable. Like most Asian countries, Seoul has a modern subway that can take you anywhere on the island. The signs are written in both Korean and English, and you can purchase single fare cards through vending machines. Be aware that you will need two cards for a round-trip. It may be more convenient to buy a reloadable T-money card if you plan to use the subway a lot. You simply scan these cards as you enter the subway platforms. You may also ride around by ferry to see the waterfront areas of Seoul and traverse the island by train or bus.

Seoul Main Attractions

If you purchase a T-money card for the subway you can use it to pay admission fees for several venues such as the ancient palaces and museums. There are five primary palaces in Seoul that most visitors explore: Gyeongbok-gung, Changdeok-gung, Deoksu-gung, Changgyeong-gung, and Gyeonghui-gung. Each palace has adjacent museums, spectacular gardens, and other unique local attractions. Hikers and nature lovers will enjoy the splendid Bukhansan and Gwanaksan mountains and the many grand parks. Namsan Park is a wild sanctuary juxtaposed against the urban centre of Seoul, and many visitors love the Olympic Park and Yangjae Citizen's Forest. There are also a number of religious temples and shrines to see, like the Buddhist temple of BongEunSa and the Jongmyo Shrine. For more modern entertainment you can also enjoy amusement parks, casinos, and a number of performing arts venues.

Seoul Shopping, Dining and Night Life

There are some huge markets in Seoul which include Namdaemun, Dongdaemun, and Insa-dong. Tourists usually buy traditional Korean clothing, bedding, decorations, and jewellery among other items in the marketplaces. There are two Techno Marts as well, where shoppers can buy hi-tech gadgets, appliances and electronics for bargain prices. Korean cuisine is known for its spiciness, and there are many local dishes you can try like kimche and bulgogi. You will never go hungry because this island is packed with a wide variety of restaurants, and there are eateries everywhere you look. The local drink is Soju, but bars also serve liquor, wine and beer, and most drinks are quite cheap. You will find places to drink just about anywhere on the island because Koreans really know how to party. Itaewon is the main international district where you can find the most diverse selection of bars and clubs. You would have to try really hard to be bored or go hungry and thirsty in Seoul.
