Three 30 / 40 ish sisters and their mother head to Kansas City for a fun weekend at the plaza. Great food, surprising culture and fun shopping.

Beautiful hotel just steps from plaza. We walked to the Cheesecake Factory in about 2 minutes. Great rooms, great service, and a very nice breakfast. We'll stay there again.
Wow. We aren't usually very "cultural" - and we were impressed. Take one of the free hour long tours and get a great overview of the collections. Our knowledgeable guide explained everything from Monet to Van Gogh to Roman and Egyption sculpture. It's very interesting - even if you know nothing about art. Everyone should go. It's about 5 minutes from the plaza - very easy to get to and lots of parking.
A beautiful outdoor plaza with fun shops like Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Williams Sonoma. Lots of great restaurants. Our favorite is California Pizza Kitchen. Get the Thai Chicken salad and chicken lettuce wraps - you won't be disappointed.
Beautifully restored working train station. Dead Sea Scrolls were on display - but didn't get a chance to view. We saw Mystery of the Nile at the IMAX and it was definitely worth $6.00.
