Ave price: $246
A fantastic and friendly hotel. Very romantic rooms. The 4 poster bed in room 826 is to die for!. This hotel is also listed in the 'Mr and Mrs smith' guide book and is totally worth a visit. A very quiet location from which to easily visit all the sites if Rome.
2. Santa Maria della Concezione
A fantastically morbid and yet moving experience. Found in the crpyt of the church with only a donation to enter. It is 4 rooms decorated with the bones of the Monks that used to be buried here. To see an altar made from spines and hip joints is quite indescribable but some how quite moving an absoloute must see that does not take long out of your schedule
3. Colosseum (Colosseo)
What else can you say but this is the piece of rome you see in every picture and guide book. If time allows go twice the first time on your own to take in the sheer magnitude and the second time take a tour for all th extra info.
4. Vatican City
I hold no strong religious views but the Basilica took my breath away. Take your time to wander and look at this magnificent place, I recomend taking 10 minutes to sit in the quiet area for prayer and thought to just soak up the atmosphere. The museum tour is amazing, but if you are in a wheelchair just be prepared that the wheelchair route flows opposite to the walking route so you are constantly against the flow! A little unnerving to say the least. If time allows book a few days ahead for the tour of the gardens as this gives you glimpse of the workings of the state and is very interesting.
Very expensive and very loud but what a superb place to sit and watch the world go by. The best part is that once you have bought your beautiful coffee you are able to sit at the table as long as you want with no pressure to move on. One tip though is always use the toilet in the cafe even if you dont really need to go as some of the public toilets are a little unsavoury to say the least! We came back to this Piazza quite a few times and enjoyed every minute, just learn to say no to the sellers in the square or else you get no peace at all.
Wonderfull to see. Free to see as it is a church. If you get bad weather then go here, we were there in the rain and to see the water pouring through the roof is awesome.
