Irish Pubs

There are way too many pubs in Ireland to ever visit them all, though trying is worth it. Here is a list created from a recent 10 day golf trip. This list meanders across the country - East to West. These are not rated in order. I could list another dozen places to try but this is the "DON'T MISS LIST". They are all top shelf.

  • 1. Oliver St. John Gogarty's Pub
Oliver St. John Gogarty's Pub, Dublin

    DUBLIN
Heart of Temple Bar, while a bit touristy (all of Dublin is), there are multiple rooms in this 3 story pub, each with a different flavor. Trad music on the 2nd floor, good lunch on the 1st floor

  • 2. Davey Byrnes Pub

    DUBLIN
Old Dublin haunt, right off Grafton Street. It was probably open when they still called the town Dubhlin (Backpool). Only for the serious crawler.

  • 3. The Brazen Head
    The Brazen Head, Dublin

    DUBLIN
It WAS open when they called it Dubhlin. A little off the beaten path, but not too far, especially if you find yourself near St. Patrick's Cathedral (Protestant). Sunday afternoons for drop-in trad music.

  • 4. Morrissey's Pub

    ABBEYLEIX
No web site for this place, but the link will take you to a photo I found on the web. If you find yourself driving through the Midlands, stop here. It was difficult to leave.

  • 5. Collins Bar

    ADARE
You could sit in this place for hours. The bartender is either Mr. Collins or a family member. Start talking with him and you'll never forget the stories. Factoid: There are two Collins Pubs in Adare. Never went to the other on Killarney Road.

  • 6. The 19th Hole

    LAHINCH
Small, friendly pub on the Main Street. The best place to re-fuel after you've bought your family presents at Sue's and Kenny's. Two great stores across the main Lahinch street from each other. Have the bartender tell you the soap opera of Kenny and Sue's divorce.
