Take the Thai Farm Cooking Course: gets you out of the city into a real market with a native; pick ingredients from an organic farm: and cook real thai! Or check out the waterfalls and temples at Thailand's highest point. Finally, hop onto a train for a great ringside seat.

1. Thai Farm Cooking Course
A must-do when in Chiang Mai. Escape the city, explore the market, learn about thai ingredients, pick your own ingredients, all with a native Thai who teaches you about everything! Best thing I did.
2. Railway Journey from Chiang Mai
You can take the railroad from Chiang Mai to Bangkok and experience the beauty of Thailand outside the cities. Emerald green rice fields, villages, animals, national parks ... first row seat on a comfortable, air-conditioned train. Lunch is included (and it was really good!) in the price of your ticket.
See beautiful waterfalls; amazing temples; breathe the fresh, clean air at Thailands highest point (bring a sweater!)
