1. Bay Street
Bay Street, Beaufort
Bay Street has charm, history and some great shopping. A good stop for art buffs too.
2. Beaufort

It's worth it to take a walkabout the old quarter of Beaufort on a sunny day. It definitely feels like the Old South up close and personal. There's an eclectic mix of plantation style mansions and cottages and everything else inbetween. It's a real neighborhood too, not frozen in amber. Take the horse drawn carriage tour or just walk around. It's not so big that you can't take it all in.
3. Plum's restaurant on the waterfront
On the other side of Bay Street is a picture perfect waterfront. Some of the restaurants like Plum's have an entrance on Bay Street and on the back side those old style porches where you can sit and watch the world go by.
4. Sargeant White's Diner
For real down home Southern cooking at an incredibly reasonable price, try Sargeant White's on the road into Beaufort. The BBQ is good but everything else is too. There's a whole story to how Sgt. White, a former Marine, found his other true calling.
