1. Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik, Croatia
The fortified city of Dubrovnik is a wonderful stop on a Croatia tour. You should not miss a walk on top of the wall. This is the highlight. Make sure to have your camera! The pharmacy museum was also interesting.
2. Hvar
Hvar, Hvar Island
I really loved this island. Make sure you take a complete tour as Stari Grad and the other towns are also very much worth while seeing. The view from the fort is amazing, then walk down the path back to the harbor. We were not there during peak season so I can't tell you much about the nightlife, but I understand there are a couple of clubs. I would also suggest renting a scooter to see the island on your own. We also took a motorboat tour of the outliing Paklinski islands. Ask your captain to take you to the restaurant. There are 2 next to each other. I can't recall the name of the one we went to, but they played great music, served up good food and enjoyed a view and access to a very nice cove with swimming. This is also just a nice island to walk around and be part of the scene.
3. Pula
Pula, Istria
We spent 2 nights in Pula at the Pula Hotel. I really enjoyed this stop as well. There was a very nice trail going down to a beautiful cove where people were sunning and swimming - some topless. Pula is also the site of the Roman-built Amphitheatre. There is also a Triumphal arch that is pretty cool.
4. Hotel Pula
Hotel Pula, Pula, Istria
I liked this hotel. It is surrounded by park and a nice trail heading down to the cove. There are lots of nice trails and walking paths. The food at the hotel was fine although breakfast was on the slim side. They have a disco and also brought in a very nice band that played in the bar. So there were 2 choices for entertainment.
5. Venice
Venice
Venice was a 5 hour drive (could be done in 4 hours without street work) from Pula. It was an enjoyable drive. Our group stayed at the Venice Mestra Novotel Hotel which worked well for our purposes and budget. If you're going to Croatia, ending in Venice is a nice choice. Our tour worked it's way up Croatia from Dubrovnik to Venice with a flight from Split to Pula. Venice, of course, is amazing.
