Shopping Mall (& metro station) Day One To start off with a little shopping. Easy to get to, just head for City Hall metro and follow the signs. They have lots of unusual shops as well as plenty of high street brands. City Hall has a convenient exit to the Esplanade - our next stop. |

Theatre/music venue A must see for the two huge unusual shaped domes (likened to the durian fruit or bug eyes). City Hall brings you out right under the Esplanade. Take the escalator up to the roof, great view of the city from the pretty roof garden. Return to ground level and take a walk through the adjoining park, under the bridge towards the Merlion. The park has some memorials and a fountain. |

| Famous statue on the river - right near the Esplanade, the Merlion gushes water from his mouth, a fun monument. Also the symbol of Singapore. Lots of tourist shops around to buy postcards, etc. |

Beautiful elegant hotel. This hotel is very close to the Merlion, this lovely hotel used to be the old Post Office. Come here for a mid afternoon break (although you should book ahead). The High Tea is delicious and never ending, as soon as you pluck something from your tray it is replaced! Very decadent and surprisingly cheap. |

IT Mall Stop off here buy some great value gadgets. Head north up North Bridge Street (website has exact location) - have some fun bargaining. |

| Collection of authentic restaurants on the waterfront - good to feel like a local, stop for a drink |
|
|
|
|
|
| Collection of new and/or chain restaurants - try the bungee or comedy bar or one of the great fish restaurants. I liked the Quayside Seafood Grill for the riverside location and Marrakesh Moroccan Lounge & Bar for funkier vibe. |

Fun island full of attractions. Day two Head to Sentosa by taxi (25 mins) or head to the Trade Centre and get a cable car over for some great views (you can also check out the biggest mall in Singapore here). There are beaches, a copycat Merlion that you can climb up to the top for good views, ride the sky tower (ditto) and the new luge which is fab for kids (or big kids!) amongst others. You could easily waste a day here. |

| Local Indian produce and people - go for a local lunch and pick up some sweet delicacies to take home. Take the metro to Little India straight from the metro station on your return from Sentosa. |

| Road full of malls - pick up some souvenirs or just spoil yourself. There are literally hundreds of shops here. Just pick your type of mall, local, high street, designer. I love to shop but this street still overwhelms me. |

Most famous Singapore hotel - home of the Singapore Sling! You can't leave Singapore without going up to the Long Bar (accessed from Bras Basah Road) to try a Gin Sling. And yes, you can throw your Monkey Nut shells on the floor! |

| Monorail to take tourist around a well laid out zoo. You can take the metro out to the zoo but I always take a taxi as they are so cheap. I'm not a fan of zoos but I have to admit this is a great set-up. You can walk around to your hearts content but the highlight is to come at night and take the monorail around the zoo. It is designed so you can't see any fences (there are big ditches between you and the animals, you just can't see them). |

Old monastery converted into restaurants. For your last dinner, come to Chijmes, it's a lovely spot with lots to choose from. I like Carnivore, you can step inside to pick up some salad/veg and the waiters will bring you barbecued food until you tell them to stop! Seafood, fish, chicken, lamb, steak, pork, etc... |
