Atlanta food adventure

Ask this member a question. biotechwriter CDC business traveler who hates to eat at chain restaurants which are usually all there is around hotels.

Get out of the downtown hotel district on MARTA (light rail) and enjoy some fabulous food!

1. Mary Mac's Tea Room

Great comfort/soul food! Warm inviting friendly atmosphere. Best sweet tea! 5 stars!!!
2. Flying Biscuit Midtown
Flying Biscuit Midtown, Atlanta, Georgia
Small cafe located in the heart of the city's gay neighborhood. Biscuits are of course great, as is the freshness of the salads and other ingredients. Lots of windows make this a great spot to people watch on a lazy afternoon. I give the 3B sandwich a big thumbs-up! Bacon, Bleu and Basil Chicken sand on a fresh whole wheat bun! Yummy!
3. The Varsity
The Varsity, Atlanta, Georgia
Old-style drive in food served in a cavernous building with many rooms (one looks like a school classroom). I got the chili-cheese combo (1 burger/1 dog) and the onion rings which were all tasty and fresh...to wash it down, you must get a frozen orange! It is like a creamsicle turned into a drink (grab a spoon)! For dessert, the fried pies are a must (get one to go or have it a la mode).
