I know it is a small country, but there is so much to do, these are the things that I am glad we didn't miss!

The lake is the most amazing color of blue that I have ever seen in my life. It actually looked like someone took a highlighter and colored the lake with it. I could have just sat and stared at it for hours!
This is conservation project/place for the yellow-eyed penquins. It is absolutely amazing how close you can get to the penquins without disturbing them.
The whole city was not only beautiful and interesting, but the wineries are to die for. They are absolutely gorgeous and there is a lot of great wine to be had. The city is also right on the ocean, so you can go to the beach and just enjoy the rolling waves.
I have never seen anything like this. This place reminded me of a big stomach! Lot of gurgling mud, burping water, the smell of sulfur every direction you turn, steam launching through the ground. The ground is colored red, yellow, green and blue from the geothermal activity. It was incredibly smelly but totally out of the norm.
5. Fox Glacier
We went with Alpine Guides onto Fox Glacier, it was one of the coolest (no pun intended) things I have ever done. I had never been on a glacier and they explained a lot about them. We took a half day hike and it was worth every penny for the views and the experience
