My favorite place on the list! There are so many interesting things to see! Photos of the presidents as they played sports, or class photos, or writings from school... There are letters written to the presidents, sound bites from speeches, trivia... The Archives is VERY hands-on, educational, and fun. Of course, everyone goes to see the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights, which are at the Archives too.
Seeing it in person is so much different than on tv!
A very nice place on a hot day -- there are stairs to sit on, and the cool shaded memorial. And the history of the place is huge. A must see!
If you at all are interested in airplanes or space, you must come here! There are planes suspended from the ceiling, an exhibit about the Wright Brothers, WWI and WWII aircraft, jet planes, and so on. There is so much too see you'll want to spend a few hours here!
For those who are fascinated in dinosaurs, animals, gems and jewels, the Ice Age, and many other things. You must see the dinosaur exhibit and the Hope Diamond, and try to see as many of the jewels as you can! (The room was very packed when I was there!)
A lovely sight that you can see from so many places around D.C. Make sure to look at it from the Lincoln Memorial and its full reflection in the reflecting pool there! You can also take a tour to the top, if you get there early enough to get tickets.
Fascinating! Even if plants bore you, this place is awesome! Make sure to take the stairs up to the second level in the jungle room so you can look down on all the foliage!
If you get there early enough, get a ticket for a free tour (distribution starts at 9). Though you only see a few rooms, it is still worth it for the experience, to see where lawmakers guide the U.S.A.
A very calm and relaxing place...
