My dad, the ultimate John Wayne fan despite never having watched any of his movies in English since he is German, sent his family on a chase to follow in the footsteps of 'The Duke'. After a day or so, I almost enjoyed it.

| Certainly worthwhile visiting as part of Amercian history; we, however, went because this 'incident' led to one of John Wayne's most famous movies. |

2. The re-built Alamo, also known as Alamo Village in Bracketville, Texas
| A full scale replica of the original Alamo compound, it is now used as a set for other westerns and movies. |
3. The John Wayne Museum in Tombstone
| A small building that was closed the day we were there. |
4. John Wayne's Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
| A little difficult to find, it only took us 6 hours. Shamefully, this star's star is NOT directly located on Hollywood Blvd. but on a side street. |

5. John Wayne's Hand/Footprints at Mann's Chinese Theatre
| A touching moment for all of us. Thankfully, not as difficult to locate as the star on the Walk of Fame. |

6. John Wayne's Grave, Pacific View Memorial Park, Newport Beach
| John Wayne is buried on a slope called "Bayview Terrace". Cemetary officials don't support this kind of 'sightseeing' so you'll be pretty much on your own. He has a nice headstone, though. |

| Certainly the low-light of this trip since it has nothing to do with John Wayne himself other than the statue inside the main terminal. |

8. John Wayne Statue on Wilshire Boulevard
John Wayne riding a horse in front of the Greater Western Bank on 8484 Wilshire Blvd. No parking and a father who forces his daughter to cross 6 lanes of rush-hour traffic to take a picture. |
