One of my favorite botanical gardens due to all the open spaces, fountains, and superior conservatory displays - my personal favorite areas in the conservatory were the Orangery, East Conservatory, and the Exhibition Hall. Definitely leave lots of time for the conservatory and plan to go in the summer when they have their water lilly display. Wear appropirate clothing and comfy walking shoes. The gardens have beautiful fountain displays. Adult admission $12-$15 depending on season, go on a Tuesday when they offer a $4 admission discount (except during Christmas season). Grab some lunch at the Terrace Restaurant and eat on the back patio when the weather is nice. Staff is really friendly!
2. Folly Hill Vineyards
Vineyard and new B&B in the Kennett Square area. Beautiful vineyard grounds, brand new wine tasting room. We stayed as guests in their Merlot Room, one of their 2 B&B units. It was an interesting experience as the vinyard buildings used to be part of the underground railroad and the Merlot Room used to be an old smoke house. Asthmatics beware as the room still smells of smoke and will irritate your lungs as it did mine. Might be better to pay more to stay in the free-standing Chardonnay Suite which used to be the old tasting room. Advantages of being a guest is a free bottle of $20-$30 wine included in stay, free admission to a wine tasting on site, and freedom to lounge in lawn chairs to enjoy the views. However, during our stay wine tastings weren't being held due to lack of staff but we were allowed to sit in the large outdoor patio with our free bottle of Folly Hill Vineyard red wine and our purchased bottle of their white to enjoy the weather, the views, and good company. Wine tasting is $7pp. They say they hold regular wine tasting hours daily but I woud call first to confirm that they are indeed open and serving customers. This is a small business run by a husband and wife team with only 2 part-time wine tasting staff. Read my full review of Folly Hill Vineyard B&B with photos if you're interested in more details of our stay. Although the stay was definitely one of the worse B&B's we have stayed at, the experience was still cool (tried to get them to show me the secret underground railroad site) and the grounds are a beautiful place to relax and enjoy your wine.
3. La Michoacana
The best home made ice cream joint and the best ice cream I've had... A little mom & pop joint in Kennet Square where they crank out their own assortment of ice cream, sorbet, and popsicles in the most delicious exotic flavors. My favorite new flavors are avocado and corn sprinkled with cinnamon as the owner instructed is the proper way to enjoy it. Prices range $1.50-$5.00 depending on how many scoops you want. Only a few seats in the shop. My grandpa said on hot days everyone sits out on the curb along the street with their ice cream in hand.
