Visit the southern most point in the United States, but be prepared. This is a long drive - the last 12 miles or so are one lane, semi-paved road. Once you get there, it is very isolated, but it's amazing to realize you are standing where the first settlers of Hawaii arrived.
Fresh baked breads and desserts served while overlooking Kealakekua Bay! Make it a point to eat here -- breakfast or lunch.
4. Big Island Hummer Tours
Ride a Hummer into the ancient rain forests and historical sites of old Hawaii -- a great experience!
5. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
Soar over an active volcano or rainforest or all of it! This was by far the best experience of our trip!!
6. Kone Joe Coffee Plantation
Our favorite coffee on the island! Go by and take a tour of the farm, taste the various brews, shop their gift shop, and visit their little coffee shop.
The best beach on Hawaii (most shoreline is lava rock and cliff). Beautiful sandy beach, clean facilities, and even a food stand for hot dogs and shaved ice.
8. Waimea (Kamuela)
The most beautiful little ranching town, surrounded by mountains. The temperature must've been about 15-20 degrees cooler than Kailua!
