Visiting for a day or for the week. Some ideas on how to spend your time in Duke City. Bear in mind that there are many great places to visit in New Mexico and this "go list" is focused on Albuquerque, NM.
Watch daily balloon ascension and "glow" events. Meet world-class balloonists, enjoy breakfast burritos, take your own hot air balloon ride, and enjoy the cultural attractions. We enjoyed the fact that we can be right next to the balloons as they were taking off.
You have to experience this - the views are incredible during the day and at night. It's also great to watch the sunset and see the city lights twinkle. I once hiked up La Luz trail and took the tram back. It's great exercise!
Centered around the town plaza, there are plenty of shops and eateries of interest. In addition, it is possible to find inexpensive southwestern jewelry.

Suprisingly good wineries exist in Albuquerque. Gruet makes a good champagne. Wineries include: Sandia Shadows, Anderson Valley. Casa Rondena Winery, and San Felipe Winery. And this is coming from a Californian!
