Fun stuff to do in the Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area. Focuses on eating and shopping.

Pancake Pantry is absolutely delicious! We go here whenever we're in Gatlinburg. Last time my husband got the Caribbean Pancakes, which were covered in coconut and pecans. I get the vegetable omelette. It comes with three yummy buttermilk pancakes. They always bring hot syrup to the table. The important thing to remember about the Pancake Pantry is that they only take cash. They do have an ATM, but who wants to pay the fees?
This place may look pretty rough, but they have the best-tasting caramel apples in Gatlinburg. We always buy at least a couple of them when we're in Gatlinburg. They're a lot cheaper than most of the other places. Plus, the apples are always fresh, and the caramel is extremely thick. You can really sink your teeth into it. Their roasted nuts are great, too.
Delicious barbeque served fast. The pulled pork is great. It's a little bit pricey, but no more than you'd expect to pay at most chain restaurants.
Every time we're in Gatlinburg, we have to go buy a bucket of caramel popcorn from Karmelkorn. You get a discount if you bring a bucket you've purchased there before for a refill. It's pricey, but it's a family tradition for us. They have caramel apples, but don't get them there. They're little and the caramel doesn't coat them very well. Instead, go to the Nut House.
5. Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort & Amusement Park
If you want to go on a ski lift / chairlift, go here intead of going to the Gatlinburg Skylift. You can either drive up to Ober Gatlinburg, or you can do like we do and ride the aerial tram. It costs $9.50 for adults, but generally you can find a coupon in one of the brochures that will knock off $1.00 per person. The tram ride is beautiful, going 2.1 miles up into the mountains. Once you are at the ski resort, you can buy tickets to ice skate, ride the alpine slide, ride amusement park rides, or ride the chairlift. We only did the chairlift, and it was very enjoyable. It costs $6 per person to ride it. The chairlift is also lengthy, and a band performs at the scenic overlook.
The majority of this mall is pretty disappointing, but they have the largest Corningware Corelle Revere store I've ever been in. They always have a huge clearance section downstairs.
This is a huge outlet mall with lots of great outlet stores to visit. Among my favorites are Kitchen Collection, Kirklands, and Van Heusen. If you are a AAA member, bring your card to the desk to get a cool coupon book.
