1. Yosemite National Park
|

|
Been here before, but it has been awhile and I only saw part of the park. Very scenic valley with majestic waterfalls and sequoia trees. Someplace I will be back to! |

A nice city. The Golden Gate Bridge is pretty. And Fishermans Waurf is neat. Didn't check out Alcatraz. Don't miss a ride on the cable cars either. |

3. Yellowstone National Park
|
|
|
Visited 3 years ago. One of my favorite national parks. Lots of wildlife, unusual thermal features, and of course the breathtaking Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (not to be confused with the AZ Grand Canyon). |

5. Grand Teton National Park
|
|
|
One of the most abrupt and beautiful mountain ranges of have seen. The mountain rise straight up from the valley without foothills. Don't miss this beautiful national park just 80 miles south of yellowstone. |

|
An awesome town with a mock shootout each night at the town square. Cool! A great base for Grand Teton NP. |

|
One of my favorite cities in my favorite state, Utah. The Salt Lake is fun because you actually float in the water. |

|
|
|
|
| A small, but very scenic national park with the biggest collection of natural arches anywhere. Don't miss the 4 mile RT to the famous delicate arch. |
|
|
9. Canyonlands National Park
|
|
| Beautiful canyons that rival the grand canyon. Very remote and not many people. Very beautiful. |
|
|
10. Dead Horse Point State Park
|
|
| Famous bend in the Colorado River. Near Canyonlands, it is worth the 5 mile side trip. |
|
|
|
|
|
| Adventuretown! Great Base for Canyonlands and Arches NP and outdoors activities like rafting, 4-wheeling, and much more. |
|
|
12. Mesa Verde National Park
|
|
| Very pretty with some of the most well preserved cliff dwellings. Tickets for tours of the cliff dwellings are first come, first serve, so arrive early or you will be seeing the cliff dwellings from a distance. Cliff Palace and Spruce Tree House (no tour/ticket required) are the best in my opinion. |

Sin City! Lots of lights at night and very unusual place. All the casinos have a theme. The Bellagio Fountains were my favorite. |

|
| Forty minutes from Las Vegas is Hoover Dam. Very impressive dam. It is neat to take the elevator ride into the dam and see the generators. View from the top of the dam is impressive! |

15. Grand Canyon National Park
|
|
|
Very Breathtaking. Try to hike a short ways down into the canyon and you see how deep and vast it is. The ride out on the bus to hermits rest is worth it. Desert View is also worth driving to. There is a neat looking observation tower there. |

| A nice town. Things to see are the Glen Canyon Dam (similar to the Hoover Dam), Horseshoe Bend ( a short hike south of town), and don't forget to take the antelope canyon tour. It is a very beautiful slot canyon east of town. |

|
|
|
|
My second favorite national parks in Utah. The Narrows and Angels Landing are my two favorite hikes. And also some of the most unusual. |

18. Bryce Canyon National Park
|
|
|
Not really a canyon, but millions of small canyons with weird rock-formations called hoodoos. Took the mule ride to the bottom and it is like "fantasy-land". |
|
|
19. Capitol Reef National Park
|
|
| My favorite Utah National Park. Not crowded at all. It is a hidden gem. Great hiking opportunities. And very unusual rock formations. If you hike the Chimney Rock Trail, you will see the features of the Waterpocket Fold and how the land is actually tilted. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
I live right near Washington DC. It is one of my favorite city and is the capital of the US. Sites include the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the Capital Building, and the Jefferson Memorial. Also, there is the free smithsonian museum. Don't miss the view from the Old Post Office Tower or the Washington Monument. I recommend doing both. There is also a free capital tour of the capital building also. Buy tickets early in the day! |

A very historical city. The Liberty Bell and Independence Hall where the constitution was written are the sites to see here. |

| One of the most famous civil war battles and a turning point of the war. There is a battlefield driving tour with many memorials. Very neat if you are into history. |

23. Great Smoky Mountains National Park
|
|
|
My favorite national park on the east coast. Very beautiful mountains and awesome hiking. Lots of waterfalls and mountain vistas plus the tallest peaks on the east coast. Don't miss Cades Cove, a beautiful mountain valley penned in by mountains with many historical buildings or Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the park and you can drive to it. |

A fun town and great base for the Smoky Mountains. I prefer the natural beauty of the park over the activities in the town. But, there is great lodging and dining options here. |

25. Shenandoah National Park
|
|
| One of the most beautiful places that is local to me. Not as grand as the Smoky Mountains in my opinion. But, worth the trip if you are visiting the Washington DC area. Skyline Drive the main road through the park follows the mountaintop for 105 miles with many overlooks. There is also good hiking opportunities. |
|
|
26. Cape Hatteras National Seashore
|
|
| Some of the best seashore on the US Atlantic Coast. Miles of uncrowded, pristine beach. The famous barber-pole like Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is here also. |
|
|

|
|
|
A very beautiful ocean-swept national park. This is classic maine scenery. The ocean meets the mountains here and it is dramatic. The mountains aren't as tall and dramatic as the Smokies, but the sea meeting the mountains is what is breathtaking here. Also, it very unusual to find a rocky coast with cliffs on the Atlantic Coast of the US. Don't miss the drive up to Cadillac mountain, the highest point in the park, which gives you a good overview of the whole park. |

| One of the most famous and photographed lighthouses. Very beautiful cliff-side ocean setting in a nice little park. |

A good base town for Acadia National Park. It is the largest town and is very scenic if you don't mind crowded. The other towns were more quaint and less crowded. But, Bar Harbor is the best for gift shops and dining opportunities. |

|
| This is the other side of maine from the coast. The "North Woods". Moose are abundant here and you chances are very high if you go out at 5 or 6 in the morning. It is a lot less crowded here than the crowded coast. And it offers a wilderness experience. The town of Greenville is very quaint and has many shops and good restaurants. Moosehead Lake is very huge and rarely crowded and is pinned in by beautiful mountains. There is great hiking opportunities all over the area. |

A lot less crowded than Cancun and more authentic Mexico. Plus, it boasts some of the best coral reefs in the Caribbean. Great Snorkeling and diving opportunities! |

|
A short plan ride from Cozumel is Chichen Itza which is on the mainland. It has the most Mayan ruins there. Very interesting archaeological site. Some of the best Mayan ruins. When I was there, you were allowed to climb the pyramid. |
