Atlanta's Latest Attraction is has one of the most amazing collection of marine life you'll ever see...Ralph and Norton the Whale Sharks are worth the trip alone, but the sea otters are always my favorites. Definitely book in advance if coming on the weekend. Plan on two hours or so.

After spending the afternoon enjoying the Georgia Aquarium, make reservations for the Atlanta Fish Market. Their crab cakes are fantastic, the wine list extensive, and the giant bronze fish sculpture is worth taking a picture with.

Make it a fishy weekend...after whale sharks and beluga whales in Georgia, head up to the Tennessee border to see a large collection of fresh water fish. The 2 hour drive from Atlanta also takes you by Outlet Malls in Calhoun and the capital of carpets, Dalton GA.

Need something cheap and easy to eat? Head to to Taqueria for their fish tacos...though you can't go wrong with their pork, brisket, chicken or veggie tacos either. The Salsa Trio chips rounds out the meal for a delicious and affordable lunch stop. Best on a Friday or Saturday.

5. Chattahoochee Nature Center

After looking at the fish in tanks, spend some time enjoying them in their natural habitat. Head to the Chattahoochee for a quick drive to a great walking park along a stream. For those more adventerous, consider doing a float trip along the river...just don't fall in and actually swim with the fishes.

Just in case you are fished out...head to the Vortex for a big ol' burger. Nothing will cure you like their fried egg, bacon, blue cheese beefy burger. 21 and over only. Ted's Montana Grill is a good alternative for those traveling with kids.
