2. Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Our opinions on Monteverde were mixed, but it was definitely an interesting experience. We spent 2 days here, which was enough for us. Important note: the roads there are much worse than we ever expected, so be prepared!
This place is beautiful. I can't imagine what it's like in high season though... it could probably get a tad too crowded.
Nice nature walk! Our guide Juan Carlos was great.
This group in La Fortuna/Arenal area was great. I admit I was a little scared when I saw how high some of the zip lines were. But it's not scary at all, and was very fun! You get to see some nice views when you're up there (as long as it's not rainy/foggy).

I was afraid this place would be too touristy as the evil big beach resort. But the truth of the matter is it's a great place to stay after a week of traveling through the country. It's one of those places where you can just stroll outside your room, sit on a chair on the beautiful beach, and have a frozen drink. I think it's good for young people, as there's a lot of surfing and socializing at the beach (and bar). We were here for 3 days and we wanted one more day. :)
