My husband and I spent 24 hours in Miami Beach to 'feel' the ocean before heading west to the desert

Kick start the day with a great coffee from Jerry's Famous Deli
Wander across to Ocean Drive to the Art Deco District Welcome Center and either book a walking tour of the fabulous art deco architecture in the (about $20 pp for adults), or pay $2 for a comprehensive map to walk around and see the sights by yourself. As some are a bit further away, why not hire a scooter (SOOO many companies to choose from), so you can see the most and best of Miami Beach's architecture
3. Market stalls along Ocean Drive
Stalls set up around 10 am in the morning, and sell all sorts of interesting trinkets and art work. It is as much fun to look at the craft for sale as it is to chat with the stall holders. Also a great way to admire the Ocean Drive architecture as you are on the other side of the road.
4. Pelican Hotel
In the late afternoon or early evening, avoid the crowds of tourists and spriukers enticing you to their restaurants. The bar at the Pelican is first-class and an excellent vantage point to watch the beautiful people. Choose from a large selection of American and international wines and beers and definitely try some exquisite appetisers at the same time. Watch the cruise ships sail out to the Caribbean. Enjoy somewhere with class and that is not rushed.

Come back the next day too for brunch!
