1. El Yunque rainforest Bed & Breakfast in the heart of the rainforst
This was an old family estate that was destroyed by a hurricane. Bill & Laurie have since rennovated it to make a bed and breakfast that is also their home.
2. Eco-tourism guide to the Luquillo Beach corridor
You can rent bicycles from the rainforestinn.com or just walk into this beautiful deserted beach and possibly future nature preserve. You will see many birds, maybe turtles, iguanas and the long white sand beach is incredible.
You can see red tailed hawks, lizard cuckoos, and the Puerto Rican screech owl (what an amazing sound they make) from the back porch of the rainforestinn. Also going to the El Portal visiter center in the Caribbean National Forest is a good place to make sightings as it as an open area.
4. Great place to eat
There is a new Sushi bar in Fajardo (only 20 min. drive from the inn). It is called Sushi Boat and the chef/owner quit his job at the Conquistador hotel to open it. The Sushi is incredible and inexpensive. It is right next to the Fajardo movie theaters.
We highly recommend the Mole Poblano (chocolate sauce) on the chicken echiladadas. This is another great reasonably priced place to eat near El Yunque.
This is the way to go snorkling and sailing while staying in El Yunque. You will be with only 6 total guests on this sailing yacht (instead of large group like the catamarans). You will have a great time! I also do not know why the trip advisor heading says "Ponce" as they are in Fajardo.
A kayak trip into the bio-bay at Las Croabas is like one of the seven wonders of the word. It is a 30 minute drive to Las Croabas from the rainforestinn and there are two kayak trips each night. We recommend Las Tortugas but there are several other tour companies offering nightly kayak trips.
These are complete homes perfect for a family get-away. Wally and Marina are like-able hosts. Marina bakes fresh bread every morning and delivers it to your front porch.
