1. Pompey's Pillar and Serapeum
Roman period pillar flanked by two re-sited sphinxes; built over Serapeum temple (temple to the Alexandrian God Serapis).There are toilets, gift shops and also remains of pillars and statues within the boundary wall. This site is a short walk from the catacombs.
Entry charge is 20 EGP.
Taxi: Carmous.
The Roman theatre (Odeum or Amphitheatre) is the main attraction of this larger Roman period site, much of which is still under excavation and therefore only visible from a distance (such as a Roman bath house). Entry cost is 20 EGP. There is an additional charge for entry to Villa of the Birds which has mosaics of birds,
Well-organised museum in a restored villa with artefacts from all over Egypt. Start at the basement for the oldest remains, including mummies and work your way to the top of the building for more modern times up to the 20th century.
Entry charge is 35 EGP.

Lush extensive gardens.
Modern iconic library on the seafront
Extensive complex of catacombs (no cameras allowed inside).
Taxi: Kom El-Shoa'fa.
Fort overlooking the harbour.
Taxi: El-Qasr.
Quirky location for a beach. Stop by here on a Corniche walk. You can also pay to use the beach here. There is a sandy beach with chairs and sunshades.
9. Necropolis of Mustafa Kamel
Graeco-Romano period tombs. Some renovation work is in progress but it is still possible go enter the underground crypt.
Located near the Corniche in Roushdy.
10. Chatby Tombs
Also known as Shatbi Necropolis, this is reputedly the oldest set of tombs in Alexandria. You can see where the coffins and sarcophaguses were stored. There are also some statues and parts of columns. The lower part cannot be entered as it is wet. The garden area is nice. Some impressive remains from this site can be seen in the Alexandria National Museum.
Located next to the Youth Hostel in the Chatby area (west of the Library).
Entry cost 20 EGP.
11. Mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi
Recently built mosque on a historic mosque site dating back to the 1700's.
12. Shallalat Garden
Small park with some historic remains and fountains. A nice place to have a picnic or to eat food bought from nearby patisseries.
