Horrible places not to go on holiday around the world

Nasty places that you should avoid. Places that are overrated, dirty, expensive, and just not worth the trouble.

1. Tenerife
Tenerife, Canary Islands
Full of horrible people who put towels on pool chairs at 3 a.m. The island itself is UGLY, barren , and soulless. The food everywhere was awful. A complete waste of money. No last minute package deal could ever be worth the 7 days of hell I had to spend there. (Please read on below.)
2. Lanzarote
Lanzarote, Canary Islands
Due to popular demand, I will clarify my stance on Lanzarote. My opinion is as follows: The landscape is dry and barren. The food was non-descript. Yes it was sunny, but sunshine does not compensate for a complete lack of culture. An informal visual and audio survey of passengers at the airport and visitors on the island led to the conclusion that a large percentage of travellers to Lanzarote are not generally the kind of people that I enjoy being around, i.e., consuming large quantities of alcohol, and being obnoxious, rude and loud. The beaches were okay, but the shops were owned by shopkeepers whose sole intent was to sell junk at outrageous prices, and to try to rip you off as much as possible. That was my experience of Lanzarote. By the way, we stayed at the 5 star Princess Yaiza, which I do not fault, (except for the cold pool), and even that failed to compensate for the awfulness of the island. So, for all of you who are offended by my opinion of Lanzarote, I make no apologies. If you choose to vacation there, I hope you have a nice time. Interestingly, of all the people who have contacted me to complain about this list, without exception, the complaints are that my opinions of both Tenerife and Lanzarote are invalid, especially because I used the common derogatory term of Lanzagrotty. Well, if the definition of "grotty" is "very unpleasant," then I think the term is a fair one.
3. Cancun
Cancun
What an awful way to spoil a beautiful coastline. I feel sorry for the locals, even the best margarita can't redeem the place.
4. Hometown Buffet, Country Buffet, locations throughout the U.S.
The world's most revolting restaurants, that epitomize all that is wrong with the U.S. Do not ruin your vacation by dining at one of these places.
5. Dahab, Egypt
Dahab, South Sinai
DIRTY, full of cockroaches, ugly, and the only time in my life when I ever found a human toenail in my food. ICKKKKYYYY!
6. Belize City
Belize City, Belize District
Depressing and dangerous. Stay away. Others have confirmed to me that they, too, think this is a bad place, and to skip it and go straight out to the Cays. We did the Cays, they are fine. But this is not about good places, it's about bad places, and some people may end up having to come through Belize City. I would advise them to try to stay elsewhere overnight, as it is unsafe.
7. Orange County, CA (except for the beaches)
Beige County is a black-hole of nothingness, and yet sameness. It is devoid of character, and so homogenized that you will realize a good old glass of milk is in for some serious competition.
