One night or several, Calistoga is a romantic, idyllic getaway where I return regularly. Here are my completely biased favorites!

My favorite Calistoga getaway, hands-down. Get a mud bath if you dare for a great de-tox, and lie by the heated mineral pool for the rest of the day (free with spa services). I love the massages (60 minutes minimum, do yourself a favor!), facial, and my friend Claire loves the body wraps.
Indian Springs is a great accommodations choice if you want to slink back to your room after your massage/mud baths, great hot-springs-heated year round pool there too. |

| I'd recommend the Elms if you want a B&B experience (although they were for sale last time I was there so check recent reviews to make sure they haven't gone downhill.) Charming rooms, great breakfasts. |

3. All Seasons Cafe & Wine Shop
| Make dinner reservations here first, you won't be disappointed. Ask for wine suggestions from their fabulous wine list if you're intimidated (or to try something new). I've been many times and keep returning. |

4. Wappo Bar and Bistro
| Named for the Wappo Native American Tribe from this area, you'll find a great selection of south-western cuisine here, with a great outdoor patio to boot. |

| Lavender Hill Spa does a great couples side-by-side massage package, I haven't done it but know many who have, highly recommended for an anniversary. |

We've done the California Wine Tours 3 times so far, it's a great way to enjoy a day of winetasting without having to drive. They used to pick up at any area hotel but I don't see this option online... I bet wherever you book your accommodations, they will tell you a company that picks up at your place.
We always talk the group into going to different wineries than the driver had planned... |

8. Cal Mart Supermarket, Calistoga California
| Great deli at the Cal Mart market if you want to pack a picnic lunch. |

9. Calistoga area favorite wineries
Some of our favorite off-the-beaten-path wineries in the area are the Frank Family Winery (try their LPR!), Raymond Winery (affordable to higher priced, great late-harvest Chardonnay) and Summers Winery overlooking Calistoga's famous Old Faithful Geyser (on the Calistoga water bottles).
Sterling Vineyards is fun just because of the cable car gondola ride (I don't care for their wines, personally, but it's a great tour.)
I love the sparkling wine tour at Domaine Chandon in Yountville too. |

11. St. Helena Shops
| A great town to window-shop. On The Vine is my favorite store in St. Helena. |

| My sister and I took our kids, husbands, and parents to Safari West last year, it' a fantastic safari experience if that interests you at all, without kids would be just fine too. I'm planning a sleepover party there for my 45th birthday in a few years :-) |
