Very nice place to stay, friendly, helpful staff, a sand beach with snorkeling, glass bottom boat, and other beach activites. A nice pool area with hot tubs, salt water pool and a slide into a cool pool. The Mai Tai's are good, try a lava flow and a lava lava. Near by are shopping areas, resturants and golf. The spa is nice-try the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage-heavenly and the facials are relaxing also.

Coffee cooperative in Captain Cook-we took the free tour learned about the only coffee cooperative on the island and sampled free coffee.

On highway 160 near Keokea. This church has whimsical murals that are biblical scenes painted by one of the priests to explain bible stories to his parish. The cemetary surrounding church is well kept and beautiful. Worth a visit.

A national historical park that is a lovely, peaceful place to visit. It has a beautiful sand beach and palm trees and lots of historical buildings-heiau and Hale o Keawe, and pools If you are lucky you can see whales and sea turtles. Can't swim or snorkel in park but at nearby Two step.

  • 6. Pu'ukolhola Heiau

This is Hawaii's largest heiau, a National Historic Site, loacted near Kawaihae. This was built by King Kamehameha in order to appease a war God. There is a trail to hike along that takes you by a temple, seveal heiaus, a royal courtyard, and the homestead of John Young. It is a interesting walk that leads to the shoreline.

Has large animal and insect scupltures, some nice plantings but is not worth money to get in.
