How to make the most out of 3 days in Rio de Janeiro.

1. Ipanema Beach

Once you arrive at Rio's international airport, make your way down to Ipanema, check into your hotel and then go spend a few hours tanning on the hot sands Ipanema beach.
2. Porcao ipanema

After a couple of hours soaking in the Rio Sun, you may want to dive into that most popular of Brazilian pasttimes, the Churrascaria! Porcao should please the meat-lover in you with its wide selection of seemingly endless choice cuts.
3. Lapa 40 Graus

After dinner you will need to work off all those calories; take a taxi over to Lapa and dance your way through a couple of that district's clubs. Lapa 40 Graus is a Samba clube where you can dance, drink caipirinhas or just people watch.
4. Cristo Redentor (Statue of Christ the Redeemer)

To start the second day of you whirlwind in Rio, head on off to visit Cristo Redentor. With His arms open to all, this iconic symbol of Rio de Janeiro is a site that should not be missed.
5. Garota de Ipanema

Everyone knows the song "The Girl from Ipanema" and this restaurante/cafe is the place where that Bossa Nova classic was born. Stop in here for a bite to eat after you visit Cristo Redentor and watch the girls as they still pass by on their way to the sea.
6. Sugar Loaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar)

Sugarloaf Mountain is Rio's second best known site and certainly worth a visit. After your lunch at the Garota de Ipanema take a taxi to Pao de Acucar and catch the sunset over Rio.
7. Ipanema's Feira Hippie (Hippy Fair) or the Rio Sul Shopping Center

If your travels to Rio during this whirlwind visit happen to include a Sunday, then by all means get yourself over to Ipanema's famous Feira Hippie. The Feira Hippie or Hippie Fair is an open-air market where you can find arts and crafts of all sorts. The Hippie Fair is a super place to buy souvenirs as well as sample some good traditional Brasilian food like acaraje but keep in mind that it is only open on Sundays from 8:00am to 6:00pm. If you happen to miss the chance at visiting the Hippie Fair, then the Rio Sul Shopping Center will easily fill that need to purchase Brasilian souvenirs. Rio Sul is a fairly large mall with everything from high-end clothing and shoes, to souvenir shirts and the always unavoidable food court.
8. Copacabana Beach

After your shopping spree at Rio Sul, come back to your hotel and then make your way over to Copacabana beach. Copacabana is Ipanema's less formal neighbor and there you will find the usual collection of sun-bronzed Cariocas enjoying all sorts of beach activities as well as a wide array of artesans offering hand-crafted items from various parts of Brasil.
9. Santa Teresa

If time permits, take a ride up to Santa Teresa. This is Rio's bohemian section of town with its winding streets, interesting architecture and many artists. Take a ride on the tram if you can squeeze it in.
10. Copacabana Palace
Copacabana Palace, Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro
On your final evening in Rio, you should take the opportunity to visit the famous landmark Copacabana Palace Hotel. This hotel has been frequented by everyone from crowned heads to heads of state as well as Rock and Movie royalty. The Hotel Cipriani Restaurante is perfect for a romantic dinner on your last night in the Marvelous City.
