Based in Seattle, we took a day to explore Whidbey Island and it's natural beauty.

1. Deception Pass State Park
Deception Pass State Park, Oak Harbor, Washington
This park has a modest amount of hiking, beach access, and great views. Admission was free when we went, but a trail map cost $2. The parking area by West Beach is a great place to go for a picnic, but it gets crowded, so go early!
2. Coupeville
Coupeville, Whidbey Island
We stopped here next to walk around the village. We found it to be very small, but there are a view art galleries worth checking out and there are a few restaurants that look cute as well. Also, we stopped at Kapaw's Iskreme for some ice cream cones and this is highly recommended as the ice creme is amazing and at a great price.
3. Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve
Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, Coupeville, Whidbey Island
We stopped at Ebey's Landing (within the reserve) for a hike along the bluff. This hike offered spectacular views (on a clear, but hazy day) and was a lot of fun. The trail has a small amount of elevation and was supposed to be about 3 miles round trip. The view from the bluff is panoramic, including shore line, Olympics, farm land, etc. - worth the effort!
4. Fort Casey State Park
Fort Casey State Park, Coupeville, Whidbey Island
This is a small state park with a lighthouse, some turn-of-the-century guns, picnic tables, lots of people flying kites, and a view. The lighthouse is pretty and supposedly includes an interpretive center and gift shop, but try to check the hours, it closed at 5 before we got there. The guns are quite amazing and it's interesting to walk around the complex that housed them.
5. Prima Bistro
Prima Bistro, Langley, Whidbey Island
We stopped in Langley for dinner and wandered into this restaurant. It was a great meal after a long day out in the sun, and a fairly interesting menu. However, Langley offers a few other restaurants that look just as interesting. There are shops as well, and the town appears to be a larger version of Coupeville. The shops were closed by the time we got there, but they are probably worth a stop.
6. Clinton-Mulkiteo Ferry

We took this ferry back to the mainland, to make a loop out of the trip.
