Selected by Conde Nast as one of the 90 Best New Restaurants in the World in 2003, Mar Plata specializes in Argentinian beef and has a full service, high end menu. The atmosphere is of a 1940's cruise ship, and very special...mostly outside. Service is very good and the kitchen is dependable. Excellent.
Fodor's has chosen La Ola Rica for their coveted Star rating. It's been an excellent, dependable choice in San Pancho for 12 years offering fine Mexican food and very well prepared seafood/ribs/salads. Excellent service and a very dependable kitchen.
A romantic setting on a flower strewn hillside makes this an intimate choice for lighter fare (no red meat, wonderful seafood/chicken/pasta dishes.) Always has wonderful music in the background. Excellent service and some very innovative dishes for Mexico, some with an Asian theme.
4. La Playa Restaurant
Beachfront, toes in the sand excellent casual dining. The owners of La Ola Rica have expanded their offerings by opening this wonderful oceanfront restaurant serving till 6 or 7pm. The selections include fabulous fish tacos, an American style Cheeseburger, great salads and others. A great place for a beer or a margarita at sunset as well.
5. La Perla del Mar
Beachfront, toes in the sand authentic Mexican seafood (think Mahi Mahi in banana leaf or shrimp skewered with pineapple.) This is a beach style/slow service restaurant, but the scenery is wonderful and the ambiance is very authentic beach style.
6. La Patrona, Polo Club and Restaurant
Elegant indoor/outdoor dining directly adjacent to the polo fields. Saturdays there is a "see and be seen" ambiance at La Patrona as the polo matches are played and everyone vies for a "ringside" seat. Elegant cocktails and a full service menu serving dinner most days of the week.
7. Maria's Restaurant
.Very good locally owned Mexican restaurant featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner. Maria is the cook and also the maitre'd...she has very good food with a large dinner menu and music some nights.
8. San Pancho Cafe/Cafe Chile Relleno
Mexican entrees (including Mole and Chiles Relleno) for dinner in a lively palapa style restaurant above the main street (Ave. Tercer Mundo).
9. Eva's Taqueria
Streetside taco stand/excellent Pelliscados and carne asada quesadillas...byo beer
10. Tacos Amour
Streetside taco stand with fabulous Al Pastor this restaurant really has no name, but the locals call it Tacos Amour because we LOVE the food...tacos, quesadillas and pelliscados with Pastor or carne asada and fabulous salsas. byo beer
11. Ishmael's Burritos
Mexican home/burrito stand overlooking the town plaza...rave reviews on their chicken burrito with french fries.
12. Las Palmas
Oceanfront, toes in the sand Mexican style restaurant with a very good ceviche and a stuffed Mahi Mahi which is authentic.
13. Chalupa
Fisherman's Family restaurant so the seafood is always fresh! The style is authentic Mexican.
14. El Nopalito
Fabulous crepes/breakfast and lunch new in 2008 and an instant hit.... an excellent chef making perfect crepes with very interesting fillings, including desert.
15. La Taza Cafe
Breakfast/lunch in a charming outdoor location right on the main street and next door to La Ola Rica.
