  • 1. the green connection
    http://www.the-green-connection.com

Visit the Green Connection - an aquarium and discovery centre par excellence. Close to town 2.5km - ( catch any bus to Tuaran). 2h visit to see the best of Borneo Biodiversity and aquatic life. Not a Zoo - no mammals but lots of other stuff, snakes, scorpions, sharks, rays. They even have a very friendly green turtle. My children loved it and there was plenty for adults. Really the best conservation oriented attraction we have ever been to.

  • 2. Tunku Abduk Rahman Park

Tunku Abdu Rahman Park – The island park just outside kk. Easy to get to from Jesselton Harbour. Budget about rm45 per person to get there and back. Beaches and snorkelling were OK, Diving was nice in very shallow water considering how close this is to the city. Lots of litter and the food on the island was not great – take sandwiches otherwise nice for a beach day.

  • 3. Crocker range Park Rainforest and waterfalls
    http://tvrc.tripod.com/

One of the least known but fantastic rainforest destinations is the Mahua Waterfall at Kg. Patau, Tambunan. Signposted off to the left/south from the road to Ranau from Tambunan. Stay at Tambunan village resort

  • 4. Kota Kinabalu Wetland Centre
    http://www.sabahwetlands.org/society/?page_id=179

In the centre of town close to Likas Square - on the city bus route. This is agreat place to unwind and get out of the city for an hour or two. This park features a 1.5 km or a 45 minute boardwalk which brings visitors deep into the mangrove jungle where the land meets the sea. This unique natural landscape give tourists a pleasant experience to enjoy fresh air and tranquility while bird-watching.
