A gorgeous European-style opera house located in downtown Fort Worth offers a wide variety of venues. Tours are also available if time won't permit a show.
One of the greatest features of Fort Worth, world-class museums! The Kimbell Buffet within the museum is a Friday night favorite.
4. Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
Rated as one of the top five zoos in the U.S. The actor Jimmy Stewart was an active supporter of the zoo for many years.
Located just south of the museum district, the Botanic Garden is a lucious piece of green heaven. Be sure to see the Japanese Garden and Rose Garden. The Gardens Restaurant is a great place to relax, rest your feet, have a bite of lunch or maybe catch the Sunday buffet.
7. Massey's
Local landmark cafe/restaurant offers some of the best chicken-fried steak and homemade pie you'll find anywhere. Old-time cafe atmosphere. Friendly service.
8. Joe T Garcia's Mexican Restaurant
A landmark restaurant south of the Stockyards area, just off Main St. Perhaps a bit overrated, but nonetheless an experience you shouldn't miss. Sit outside by the pool if the weather permits. The "meal" is served family style and consists of cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, and cheese/pepper tostadas as appetizers. Go early or late unless you enjoy long lines.
A fine example of Southwest food and ambiance. Try to check out the Justin Room; the walls are lined with boots. You simply must go to the rooftop area overlooking downtown Fort Worth!
10. Fincher's Western Store
Located on E. Exchange in the Stockyards, Fincher's is one of the few western stores that have not "merged, consolidated," or otherwise met an untimely fate. It's the original Fincher's White Front Western Store. You'll love it!
11. Texas DE Brazil Restaurant
This limited-chain restaurant is a Brazilian-style "churrascaria" which offers a high-end salad bar and unlimited meat servings by costumed waiters. Great for a special evening meal or try the less pricey (Friday only) lunch. Go with a big appetite or select from the expansive salad bar only. One of our very favorite spots!
Fort Worth is COWTOWN! And this coliseum is the home of the first indoor rodeo. Weekly rodeos and other events are still held here. Close by are some of the original stock yards and pens used when the area was still home to the big packing houses. Lots of interesting history in the Stockyards!
13. National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame
An outstanding addition to the museum district, this one should be close to the top of your to-do list. Docents are available to offer fact-filled and insightful tours. The museum is absolutely beautiful and chock full of cowgirl memorabilia. Don't miss the gift shop! Short hours so call before you go.
This big elegant home was built as a honeymoon "cottage" for Electra Waggoner by her father. A popular place for weddings, but no candles in this historic home. Any tour of Thistle Hill is impressive, especially during the Christmas season.
15. Fort Worth Museum of Science & History
A favorite attraction of the locals. The IMAX theater offers consistently fine entertainment.
