Start out Friday night in historic Ybor City with an authentic Spanish dinner. Enjoy classic Ybor salad, chicken and yellow rice and a glass of red sangria...my favorite dinner! Be sure and make reservations so you can watch the Flamenco show during dinner. Save room for dessert!
2. Ybor City
Ready for some nightlife? Stroll down 7th Avenue after dinner and head to the Rare Olive and pick from a long list of exotic martinis. Be warned that Ybor can get really crowded with college age kids at night...if this isn't your thing, you may want to visit Ybor during the afternoon instead and enjoy some shopping. Or maybe hit the Improv Comedy Club...your favorite comedian just may be touring!
3. Flamingo Cafe
Saturday morning, hit Flamingo Cafe on Davis Island for the best breakfast in town. Dogs are welcome if sitting at an outdoor table. My favorite dish is the crab cake benedict...DELICIOUS!
After breakfast, drive over to Clearwater Beach for the softest sand I've ever felt! Enjoy relaxing in the sun, reading a great book, or strolling down the beach. The water is usually very calm and warm, like bathwater. Clearwater beach is about a 30-45 minute drive from Tampa.
5. Frenchy's Rockaway Cafe
Watch the sunset and enjoy a margarita at Frenchy's. Be sure to get a grouper sandwich and some she-crab soup! Frenchy's is right on Clearwater beach. Dress is very casual...just throw on a cover-up over your bathing suit!
Save your appetite for a huge Sunday brunch! Enjoy seafood, waffles, omelets, almost anything you can imagine! Enjoy beautiful views of Tampa Bay and the downtown skyline.
7. Howard Avenue/SOHO area
For nightlife, if Ybor isn't your thing, head to some of the bars on Howard Ave. MacDinton's gets really crowded for Friday night Happy Hour. Other popular spots are the Lodge, Mangrove's, the Rack, and Dubliner.
Need some culture? Head over to the Dali museum and get your fill!
End your weekend with a delicious dinner at Bern's. Bern's is known for their extensive wine list and has been featured in Wine Enthusiast. You can't beat the classic Filet Mignon. Be sure to save room for dessert...their dessert room can't be missed!
Have kids? Can't miss Busch Gardens...exotic animals, tons of roller coasters and rides. Parents can even sample the beer!
11. International Plaza
Rainy day? Enjoy indoor shopping at the best mall in Tampa! Features a Nordstrom's and Neiman Marcus, Tiffany's on the high end, but also Limited, Express, and the discount Forever 21 to name a few. Also features great restaurants like Cheesecake Factory and of course a food court
