Fun & budget conscious weekend in Lexington Kentucky
A quaint Shaker Village along the Kentucky River that showcases original houses, school, barns and all the crafts needed for the village such as catching & shearing the sheep, cleaning the wool, spinning the wool and making garments. In addition they make candles, soap, and demonstrate all these activities. Have lunch or dinner there (reservations are suggested). They serve delicious, home cooked meals. A most interesting place.
Various horse farms that you may drive by and view parts of the farms and horses. Especially nice in the spring because of the new born foals.

Cafe Jennifer at the Woodlands offers a wonderful selection of dining entrees, salads and desserts. They offer local fare such as Hot Brown (delicious) and traditional southern food in a very nice setting.
Touring Keeneland Race Track is great fun and very interesting and when they are not racing, it is free. You are welcome to eat at the track kitchen with the jockeys, trainers, etc. I would recommend it for breakfast or lunch. If the track is open for racing there is a small admission charge to enter but it is so beautiful there and around the paddock where they parade the horses, it is so worth it. Don't miss the Clubhouse.
A beautiful working horse farm that is open to the public to view. The Rolex competition is held here and the World Equistrian Event (first time held outside of Europe) will be held in Lexington in 2010.
A very glitzy place for lunch in the basement of an old schoolhouse not far from Lexington in Nonesuch, Ky. that has been converted to an antiques shop (a very large one). The food is delightful, reservations are generally needed and check before going because they are not open all year long.
